It’s time to give Canadian law enforcement a Canadian solution to go after criminals—like they’ve been asking for decades. 🇨🇦

The Combatting Hate Act passed in the House of Commons this week.    That’s a huge step forward in our mission to build a stronger, safer country where everyone — no matter who they are or how they worship — can live free from violence and intimidation.

Classic example of misinformation from the Conservatives. The bill was in fact not defeated, but rather referred to the Justice committee unanimously.

Tonight was important. The Combatting Hate Act has passed the House of Commons. As Canada faces a despicable rise in hate-motivated violence, this legislation will give law enforcement the tools they need to protect vulnerable communities from hate.

Don't believe every Conservative graphic you see. 🛑 The Facts: 1️⃣ We are SUPPORTING Bill C-235. 2️⃣ We referred it to committee UNANIMOUSLY. Fabricating a "win" where there is no conflict is a habit for Mr. Brock. We're staying focused on the facts and on victims. 🇨🇦⚖️

Canada is ready to lead this effort. The Defence, Security and Resilience Bank will provide low-cost financing for critical defence projects in participating countries. By pooling credit strength, we’ll build our military capacity and create good jobs across our defence sectors.

Violent, armed carjackings and auto theft do more than steal property - they disrupt lives and take away a person’s sense of safety. Thank you to our policing partners @TorontoPolice, @OPP_News, and @CanBorder. Project Stratis highlights the power of coordinated, inter-agency efforts across #Peel and beyond to dismantle these networks and stop stolen vehicles from being exported.

Heartbroken by the tragic collision at LaGuardia Airport, where an Air Canada Express flight struck a firefighting vehicle on the runway, claiming the lives of two pilots. In their final moments, their actions helped save dozens of passengers. We honour their service and sacrifice, and hold their families and loved ones in our thoughts.
Steven MacKinnon@stevenmackinnon

I am deeply saddened by the tragic accident at LaGuardia Airport involving an Air Canada Express aircraft arriving from Montréal.  My thoughts are with the families, loved ones, and colleagues of those who lost their lives, as well as all those who were injured.  Canada is working closely with U.S. authorities as they investigate this incident, and we are following developments closely. Aviation safety remains our highest priority.

These changes will allow @PeelPolice and all our policing partners to investigate digital-age threats like online exploitation and organized crime more effectively. Modernized lawful access will help prevent criminals from exploiting outdated systems and improve our ability to protect survivors and victims. Let’s be clear: Islamophobia has no place in our society. No Canadian should be subjected to harassment, intimidation or violence, especially, at their place of worship. I recently visited the @TICmasjid and heard from community members about the horrific threats they have received. This week, a family leaving the centre was harassed and a child was assaulted. This is completely unacceptable and must stop. We stand with all Muslim-Canadians in condemning any acts of Islamophobia and hate.  I’m grateful for the rapid work of law enforcement in making an arrest related to this incident. We all have a responsibility when it comes to combatting islamophobia, antisemitism and all other hate-motivated violence in Canada.

Thank you to Minister of Public Safety @gary_srp for joining us today in Toronto to discuss Bill C-22. The law enforcement sector has long advocated for the modernization of lawful access provisions to help apprehend violent criminals, investigate homicides, child sexual exploitation and violent extremism - when acting quickly is crucial for public safety.

When Canada’s police chiefs are telling us that their investigations into extortion, child predators, human trafficking, and other crimes are hindered because of outdated laws, government must act. Behind every one of those investigations is a real victim — a child waiting to be found, a family torn apart by trafficking, a person living in fear of their extorter. They deserve better than laws that haven’t kept pace with the digital world. This is not a partisan issue. This is a public safety issue. OPP Commissioner and Canadian Association of Chiefs of Police President Thomas Carrique is calling on all of us as parliamentarians — regardless of party — to put politics aside and pass Bill C-22. Public safety isn’t a partisan issue. Giving investigators the tools they need to solve crimes in the digital age shouldn’t be either.

Crimes like extortion, child exploitation and human trafficking leave digital footprints. Getting that information in Canada can take weeks or months and investigations go cold. Bill C-22 proposed by the Carney government aims to give police faster access to help stop crime and protect victims. This bill is legislation which I, @ChiefNish and law enforcement across the country actively pleaded with the government to introduce as a necessary step for a safer Canada. We implore for the speedy passage of this legislation. Canada will be safer when it passes. I hope the legislation receives parliamentary priority by the government and all party consent from opposition parties. Canada is the only Five Eyes county that doesn't provide this tool to law enforcement. servingbrampton.ca/digital-eviden…

The Police Association of Ontario supports Bill C-22, the Lawful Access Act, which will provide police with the digital tools needed to investigate crime and protect our communities in a rapidly changing world. We’re encouraged by the government’s efforts to balance public safety with privacy, and urge all Parliamentarians to advance Bill C-22 so our laws keep pace with technology and keep Ontarians safe.
Michael Gendron@michaelgendron

The Canadian Police Association welcomes the introduction of Bill C-22 (Lawful Access Act). Modernizing Canada's lawful access framework helps ensure investigators can keep pace while maintaining judicial oversight and privacy protections. #cdnpoli
