Solidarity to my brave friend, @ChrisNineham. Chris helped to organise a peaceful protest against the genocide in Gaza last year (and has been a key figure in the anti-war movement for decades). This protest laid flowers to mark the thousands of Palestinian children who had been killed. This decision signifies a dark day. The right to peaceful protest is a crucial element of democracy. Without it, we veer towards a police state. What an upside-down world we live in, when protesting against state slaughter is deemed a crime by a system who are complicit in that slaughter.

Its been a busy couple of days dealing with the aftermath of the verdicts against Chris Nineham and me. First of all a huge thankyou to the mass of people who have been in touch to share love and solidarity and their sense of outrage at the judgement. Some reflections:

The judge closed by telling Chris and me that we were previously men of good character but now our characters are stained. I prefer to listen to Munther Isaac who told the world in Dec 2023 to look in the mirror and ask" what did I do when Gaza was going through a genocide."

Hier, les militants Chris Nineham et Ben Jamal étaient condamnés en Grande Bretagne pour leur engagement pour le peuple palestinien.
