Three years ago, we were preparing to welcome the first visitors to @VisitDundreggan. Since then, over 120,000 people have come through our doors! 🎉 We know that people are more likely to protect and restore #nature when they can experience, understand, and connect deeply with it, and that nature should be accessible to everyone. 🌳 Our centre creates space to learn, share knowledge, and experience #rewilding in action, while also connecting with rich #Gaelic culture and heritage. Set within our 10,000-acre estate home to over 4,000 species of plants and animals, the world’s first rewilding centre continues to grow as a hub for people and nature, and we look forward to welcoming many more of you in the years ahead. Find out more and plan your next visit 👉 visitdundreggan.co.uk

“The greatest threat to our planet is the belief that someone else will save it.” - Robert Swan We all have the power to help create a nature-rich future. #Nature is for everyone, and nature needs all of us. 🌳 #Rewilding is about action and restoration. Undoing centuries of decline and helping nature recover. Expanding fragments of woodland, restoring habitats, bringing back native wildlife, and deepening our connection to nature. Discover how rewilding is helping bring more life back to the Highlands 👉treesforlife.org.uk/about-us/what-…

In #Gaelic, there is a word that captures the deep bond between people, land, and nature: Dùthchas 🌿 More than a place of birth, #Dùthchas speaks to belonging - a sense of being part of the landscape, with responsibilities to care for it now and for future generations. Rewilding the Highlands is about restoring wildlife and habitats, but also the relationships between people and the land. Read more about how rewilding and land reform can work together to restore nature and empower communities 👉 treesforlife.org.uk/lets-re-embrac…

A lichen of Scotland’s rainforest: tree lungwort 🌿 Tree lungwort is a large, leafy, and distinctive #lichen, named for its lobes that resemble lungs. As a lichen, it’s a composite organism, made up of a fungus and two algae (one green, one blue-green). An indicator of ancient forests, tree lungwort was once more widespread but now faces challenges from pollution and climate change. The high rainfall, mild temperatures, and clean air of #ScotlandssRainforest create perfect conditions for mosses, liverworts, and lichens to thrive. “We learned, we laughed and reconnected!” - Volunteer 🌳Over 30 Tree Seed Collection volunteers from across Scotland, alongside our Woodland Trust Scotland colleagues, recently gathered at Dundreggan to celebrate the collection season and the incredible contributions of our #volunteers. From birch tapping and ancient #woodland indicators to Gaelic in the landscape, the weekend was a chance to come together, share knowledge, and learn from one another - with great food from the café and a few ceilidh dances along the way. 🎶 Learn more about the Tree Seed Collection project 👉 treesforlife.org.uk/about-us/what-…

Montane #willow is rare in Scotland, with only small, fragmented communities left. ⛰️ Our nursery grows these hardy trees from local seed, making them available for planting. 🌱 Swipe to see 👉 1️⃣ Whortle leaved willow 2️⃣ Downy willow 3️⃣ Eared willow By sponsoring a tree, you’re helping us grow and nurture montane willow and support natural woodland #regeneration. 🌳 Sponsor a tree or start your own grove - treesforlife.org.uk/support/plant-…

A peek inside the nursery 👀 Thanks to warmer, sunnier days, and the care of our team and volunteers, our #aspen trees are now in flower. In #Scotland, aspens rarely flower or set seed naturally. That’s why we’ve created a carefully managed ‘seed stand’ in our polytunnel, helping to encourage seed production. Now comes the delicate work. Our nursery assistant Heather is hand-pollinating the trees, gently brushing pollen onto the female catkins. If all goes well, we’ll have new seed in the months ahead, enabling new aspens to grow. 🌱 Even in the polytunnel, you’ll find lots of wildlife and beasties making a home amongst the trees. Did you spot the spider? 🕷️

Here’s a wee spring throwback: lovely photos from one of our release sites showing a mother red squirrel with her kit. 🐿️ Looking for a meaningful gift this #MothersDay? You can support wildlife like our iconic red squirrels by sponsoring a tree for a loved one - a gift that keeps on growing. 🌳 Your gift will help native trees thrive in the Scottish Highlands, creating homes for wildlife and shaping the forests of the future. Congratulations to the Welsh Rewilding Alliance on their launch today! Over the past year, this new Alliance grew from an idea to a reality - supported by the team at @RewildingB, and building on the knowledge shared by The @ScotRewilding since it was formed in 2019. Check out their new website, along with their first report - The Welsh Way to Wild - a clear, practical vision for how #rewilding can work for Wales, restoring nature while supporting communities, livelihoods and culture. 🌳Find out more 👉 rewildingalliance.cymru
