Eddie Goodman lost his life in the line of duty on the 4th March 1987. Eddie was overcome with fumes whilst trying to rescue two brothers trapped in a grain solo on Plas Captain Farm in Brynford, Wales. Today #WeRemember firefighter Eddie Goodman.

Today #WeRemember William Fraser, who lost his life 117 years ago today, battling a warehouse fire at Adelphi Court in Aberdeen. William was 28 with a new born baby when he died. He was struck by a guttering pipe, which knocked him 40ft off his ladder while fighting the fire.

On Thursday 26 February, we celebrated 23 new firefighters completing their initial training and welcomed them into our Service at our first Pass Out Parade of 2026! 🚒 Held at our Training and Safety Centre in Bury, family and friends joined us to celebrate, watching with pride as their loved ones showcased their knowledge and skills in practical demonstrations and received their certificates -marking the successful completion of their initial operational training.👏 🎉 These individuals will now be posted to fire stations across Greater Manchester where they will continue their training until they become fully qualified firefighters. Today, we say an emotional goodbye to Jim Quinn, who is retiring. Jim has served as the executive council member for Northern Ireland for 12 years, and has served as the FBU’s national treasurer for almost a decade. He joined Northern Ireland Fire Brigade in January 1986. We thank him for his many years of service.
