When I fly back home, I land at Trichy, Bangalore or Chennai from SG.
@aaichnairport is by far the worst. The taxi boarding at arrival is a disaster.
Overrun by touts & scammers as well as a logistical nightmare!
Worse than several 3rd world airports!

The bombing of the premier Iran University of Science and Technology in downtown Tehran was not collateral damage but a deliberate attempt to impede the country’s scientific progress and R&D capacity. Despite operating under heavy Western sanctions — and with its scientists often excluded from international collaborations — Iran has remained a scientific powerhouse, consistently punching above its weight in publication density and in high-tech niches such as nanotechnology and medical research.
In terms of scientific output, Iran has often ranked first in the Islamic world. It is especially prominent in nanotechnology, where it frequently places among the top countries globally by volume. Yet Iranian officials note that Western sanctions and publishing restrictions have begun to erode this standing, with the country’s global rank slipping from 15th to 17th in recent years.

Unilever makes 250,000 job applicants play video games before they’ll even look at a resume.
For their Future Leaders program, instead of reading cover letters, they run candidates through 12 neuroscience-based games built by Pymetrics (now owned by Harver) that measure how you make decisions under pressure, how you handle risk, and how fast you learn. The games cut their hiring time from four months to four weeks and saved over 50,000 hours of recruiter time. JPMorgan, BCG, Accenture, Mastercard, and McDonald’s all use the same platform.
There’s real science behind this. Researchers at three European universities put 40 business students through Sid Meier’s Civilization, then ran them through a Fortune 500-style management assessment center. Published in the Review of Managerial Science in 2020, the results were clear: students who scored highest in the game scored highest on problem-solving, organizing, and planning. They also had better grades.
A 2013 study at Queen Mary University of London found the same pattern with StarCraft. 72 volunteers got 40 hours of training. The StarCraft group showed a significant improvement in cognitive flexibility (your brain’s ability to switch between tasks and think on your feet) compared to a control group that played The Sims. The statistical evidence was 40 times stronger than what you’d expect from chance.
SimCity specifically has been used in university urban planning courses since 1994, when a professor named John Gaber started assigning it to teach systems thinking. A 2025 study found students who played it showed a 26% improvement in understanding sustainable city design, and 81% applied what they learned in the game to real projects.
The Civilization study was a proof-of-concept with 40 students, not a 10,000-person trial. But the pattern across multiple studies, multiple games, and a $20 billion gamification industry keeps pointing the same direction. The meme is a joke. The science behind it isn’t.

Respected @mkstalin avl
I'm writing this to you with great pain in my heart and at the same time finding enormous relief at putting into words a grief that I have carried for a very long time.
You may perhaps be aware (but dozens of abusive handles that claim to be DMK are not aware)... that the last book which I translated, under commission by Sahitya Akademi, was the literary biography of your father authored by Prof Dr Ma. Rajendran. I was extremely saddened by the time the book translation work came to me--having been at the receiving end of unspeakable and relentless abuse because of a stray post on Savukku Shankar, an YouTuber who has been savagely hunted down by your regime. Yet, for all my misgivings & sadness at how I was treated in the online spaces by DMK affiliates & members, I gave my everything to that book for one reason, and one reason only... my appa has never asked anything from me in my life, and I could not bear to reject his request. My father is everything to me, and most of all his lesson to me has been to never let anyone pull me down because I happen to be a woman.
You are the son of your father, someone who has been five times the Chief Minister of this state. You may not even be in a position to fathom my pain. Whenever I faced shameful character-assassinating abuse from the DMK ecosystem, I have cried myself to sleep thinking-- they are going after me because my father is a nobody in their eye. Because I do not have a father big enough to fight for me, I have to stand on my own feet and fight for myself.
Here I am fighting.
What you may also not be aware of, & what I need to painfully remind everyone is that I'm also a mother. I raise two children, I'm the sole breadwinner & every day I struggle to give them the quality of the life we left behind in London. I barely sleep, I know nothing except work but yet to be called a prostitute/ RSS sleeper cell by your party-affiliate handles will earn you a Tamil mother's curse. Also, my kids are in primary school but they read everything. When I was younger, my biggest fear was that in the event of my being arrested my children would not even know my name. Now, because they know my name, they are also painfully aware of what is being said about me. And yes, my children read Tamil.
If fascists call me names, I can always tell them--this is what fascists do. My comrade's grandfather was in the Resistance against the Nazis, Cedric himself was active in revolutionary politics for two decades of his life, so fighting fascism is not new to my family.
How do I as a mother explain the hatred that is spewed against me everytime I say anything crticial of police excesses, crimes against women, the atrocities on Dalits, the ugly patronage of a poet-molester, and so on. Do I tell them that these people are also fascists because they cannot tolerate any criticism? Or do I tell them that misogyny has impregnated our political landscape that a woman who does not join the groupthink of DMK echochambers automatically becomes an object of ruthless attack.
How is it possible that I can write/speak on the genocide of Palestinians, challenge US imperialism, write centrespreads against paramilitary excesses during Operation Khagar criticising Home Minister Amit Shah... but.. as a Tamil woman I cannot write a tweet mildly critical of your govt or its machinery without being subject to vile abuse and unimaginable slander.
I do not have an easy answer to the fundamental contradiction: if one of the biggest dangers from far-right is rampant misogyny, then, I'm already inhabiting & suffering under it. How has it come about? If this is a monster you cannot control it exposes your powerlessness. If it is a monster that you do not want to control--instead using proxy attacks as a silencing mechanism -- then you are no different than the fascists you warn us about. Between these inconvenient questions, I've decided that for my own clarity, I must address this letter to you.

18 year old pahari kid went out to fetch milk, got ambushed by a leopard 25 meters from his house, fought it bare-handed for 10 minutes protecting his own neck, pried its jaws open, then beat it to death with a stick. By the time his father showed up it was already over. Built different doesn't even begin to cover it.

Parithabangal videos are honestly getting unbearable. Every single episode is packed with lazy, recycled misogynistic punches & cheap shots at women. They keep mocking the emotional & physical labor that literally keeps a household running. It’s not satire anymore; it’s just punching down & calling it humor. Downright frustrating & ithuku ivlo views and men calling it relatable. Chaikk

So this is what Galgotias teaches its students by example - copy someone else’s work & claim it as your own. When you get caught you don’t own up & apologise, instead you 6 & 9 to make excuses. When that doesn’t work you throw an employee under the bus & blame them for everything to save your own skin. Thank heavens this wasn’t the education I received.

💔 THIS HIT HOME. HARD.
When an MP actually raises a REAL issue, they deserve applause 👏
@SwatiJaiHind spoke powerfully in the House about private hospital loot something every middle-class family fears.
An emergency doesn’t just break your health…
it breaks your savings, gold, and home 😞
Before treatment even starts:
💸 ₹20,000–₹1,00,000 advance
🏨 Hospital rooms cost more than 5-star hotels
🧾 Thermometer, masks, sanitizer everything added to the bill
💊 Medicines sold at FULL MRP inside
🧪 Outside lab tests? “Not accepted.” Only hospital tests allowed.
Getting sick in India shouldn’t mean financial death.
This voice matters. This issue matters. 🔥
👉 Every middle-class family can relate.
👉 Healthcare shouldn’t be daylight robbery.
