Together with our colleagues in Leiden, we examined the effect of mitral valve repair on LV remodeling in men and women with mitral valve prolapse. Women show less reduction in LV volume after surgery and are more likely to develop postoperative LV dysfunction - this highlights later diagnosis/referral in women and the need for sex-specific MVP criteria.
