Had a productive conversation with my brother Sultan Haitham bin Tariq and conveyed advance Eid greetings to the people of Oman. We agreed on the need to prioritize dialogue and diplomacy for de-escalation and subsequent restoration of peace and stability. Reiterated India’s condemnation of the violation of Oman’s sovereignty and territorial integrity and appreciated Oman’s efforts to facilitate the safe return of thousands of people, including Indian nationals. India and Oman stand for safe and free navigation through the Strait of Hormuz.

Spoke with my friend, Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim of Malaysia, and conveyed warm greetings to him and the people of Malaysia on the occasion of the upcoming festival of Hari Raya Aidilfitri. We also discussed the deeply concerning situation in West Asia and reaffirmed our shared commitment to de-escalation and the early restoration of peace and stability through dialogue and diplomacy. @anwaribrahim

Significant decisions undertaken by the Union Cabinet today: ➡️ Approved MSP funding of Rs. 1,718.56 crore for cotton seasons 2023-24. A step towards ensuring income stability for our farmers and encouraging sustained cotton cultivation. ➡️ Cleared 1500 MW Small Hydro Power Development Scheme which will benefit hilly and North Eastern states. Will boost clean energy generation, attract investments in rural areas and generate employment. ➡️ Bharat Audyogik Vikas Yojna (BHAVYA), for developing 100 plug-and-play industrial parks approved with an allocation of Rs.33,660 crores. The initiative will enable ease of doing business and accelerate development of manufacturing sector. ➡️ Approved construction of 4-lane access-controlled National Highway-927 from Barabanki to Bahraich. Will provide seamless connectivity to key economic, social, and logistics nodes across Uttar Pradesh. #CabinetDecisions

Spoke with HH Sheikh Sabah Al-Khaled Al-Hamad Al-Mubarak Al-Sabah, Crown Prince of Kuwait and conveyed greetings on the upcoming festival of Eid. We exchanged views on the evolving situation in West Asia and shared concerns over recent developments. Reiterated India’s condemnation of attacks on Kuwait’s sovereignty and territorial integrity. Ensuring safe and free navigation through the Strait of Hormuz remains our foremost priority. We agreed that sustained diplomatic engagement remains essential for regional peace and stability. I thanked him for continued support for the safety and wellbeing of the Indian community in Kuwait.

Reiterated India’s strong condemnation of all attacks on the UAE that have resulted in loss of innocent lives and damage to civilian infrastructure. We agreed on the importance of ensuring safe and free navigation through the Strait of Hormuz. Concluded a productive visit to Brussels, meeting with the #EuropeanUnion Foreign Affairs Council, calling on Presidents of the @EUCouncil António Costa and @EU_Commission @vonderleyen, and holding talks with EU HRVP @kajakallas. Also met EU counterparts and held separate bilateral discussions with many. Ten key messages in these conversations were: ✅ The finalization of the Free Trade Agreement (FTA) represents a turning point in 🇮🇳 🇪🇺 ties. Will not only unlock its enormous economic potential but express the strategic nature of our engagement. ✅ To realize the gains of FTA on the ground, the two sides should proactively assist each other in practical activities, including trade and investment promotion. ✅ The Trade and Technology Council (TTC) can be upgraded and repurposed to facilitate collaboration in critical and cutting-edge technologies. ✅ De-risking supply chains and enhancing resilience are shared objectives. The FTA will encourage deeper business linkages to that end. ✅ Mobility of skills and talent flows are very important. The establishment of the Legal Gateway Office in India is noteworthy. We have a common interest in promoting Global Capability Centers (GCCs) in India. ✅ The Security and Defence Partnership will be taken forward. Will endeavour to conclude the Security of Information Agreement early. ✅ Connectivity is also prominent in our agenda. Will work together to give practical shape to IMEC and other such initiatives. ✅ As multilateralism comes under stress, India and the EU will strive to strengthen its institutions and practices. ✅ Our Strategic Partnership will be carried out through close and regular consultations at the leadership level. Domain specific mechanisms will support those efforts. ✅ In a multipolar and uncertain world, the India-EU partnership will act as a factor of stability and resilience.

A wrap-up meeting with EU HRVP @kajakallas in Brussels. Thanked her for inviting me to the Foreign Affairs Council meeting. Our conversations on various bilateral and global issues were enriching. Agreed to maintain close and continuing contact.

Delighted to call on @eucopresident António Costa in Brussels. @EUCouncil His guidance and support have taken India-EU ties to a new level. Conveyed our deep appreciation in that regard. Look forward to his continued encouragement.
