On March 31, attackers uploaded two malicious npm packages of Axios (1.14.1 and 0.30.4) a hugely popular JavaScript library that sees close to 100 million downloads every week. #ESET #ProgressProtected #Cybersecurity #SupplyChain

On March 31 - practically immediately after the attackers started exploiting this intrusion vector. ✅ If you recently installed Axios: Check lockfiles for 1.14.1, 0.30.4, or "plain‑crypto‑js", downgrade to safe versions, rotate all credentials, and treat systems as compromised.

Microsoft and Google linked the activity to a cluster tracked by ESET as North Korean Lazarus DangerousPassword attacks. ESET's AI-native XDR first spotted and autonomously blocked the Axios supply chain attack on a Windows machine at 00:50 UTC on March 31

To achieve their goal and deploy the second-stage remote access trojan (RAT), threat actors behind this supply chain compromise hijacked the Axios' lead maintainer account.
