On April 27th at about 10:40 PM GMT, I was in the @Space_Station Cupola and saw something really neat. I was scanning the sky to try to catch a glimpse of the approaching Progress MS-34 vehicle bringing new supplies. Just as we were passing over West Africa, I saw a bright object directly below us, streaking through the upper atmosphere. I saw its tail grow and then split apart into a shower of smaller pieces. I think it must have been some piece of orbital debris or a satellite breaking up as it entered the atmosphere. It was quite a light show!

What a difference 1 year can make … Cortex 2.0 as it appeared on 30 April 2025 and how it looks 1 year later. As incredibly fast as @Tesla works, it still takes awhile to complete massive new projects like this. The lead times for these projects (and acquiring and/or manufacturing the equipment for their operation) can be brutal, often measured in years. This is why we already see work in progress for the Optimus Factory (IMHO, probably in a phase 1 then a later, phase 2 expansion approach to begin early operation as quickly as possible) with a target of late 2027 for initial operation and also the new Advanced Technology Chip Fab probably initial operation in early 2028 (IMO based on current progress).

The Billionaire Tax is actually an Everyone Tax. The Billionaire Tax is a new tax proposal written by four professors who don't believe in the American dream. Some of them aren’t even American…go figure. Despite its name, it applies to every California resident who currently has assets or ever will. The creators named it the Billionaire Tax so you would get into a froth andwouldn't look closely at what it actually does to you. On page twenty-six, it explains how the government can convert to an Everyone Tax without voter approval. They can also adjust the tax to be a yearly tax, not just one time…again, without your approval. Here's how the tax would work: As a voter, you're being asked to approve a tax that would require you to: 1. list all your assets and the value of each, then submit them to the California Franchise Tax Board. 2. authorize the tax board to appraise your assets and confirm the value of each. 3. pay a penalty of up to forty percent of your tax bill if the board determines your reported value was too low in their opinion. 4. allow the tax board to subpoena your financial records from every one of your financial institutions for auditing. This Everyone Tax runs 34 pages of shifty language describing how the government plans to take your assets. Read the fine print and decide for yourself. If this were truly a billionaire tax, it would be 3 pages. It’s 34 pages so that it can create the mechanisms to steal from all of you.

Tesla FSD amazed me yet again. It noticed the large trailer so it didn’t pull all the way up to the line after this car went. Then it realized that the trailer was t going to swing wide enough so it REVERSED to make way, then shifted over to get clear. This is AWESOME! #fsd

Now that @Tesla has publicly announced the final Cybercab in bright, glossy gold and that production SOP (Start or Production) has happened, here are some views of several at Giga Texas today in the outbound lot. As you can visually see, these are very noticeably different from the wrapped engineering versions. These look so good out in the sun for the first time!

Waiting at Superchargers is rare, but when it happens, customers should be able to plan with confidence. Superchargers are the only fast chargers with predictive wait times and we're now using vehicle trajectory data to improve these predictions. Not all customers use Trip Planner to navigate to Superchargers, and amenities nearby also make forecasts harder (ex: cars queuing in a drive through next to a Supercharger). Hence, we've had instances where estimations were off, including at the Diner, where actual waits were longer than shown. This new model is much better, will keep improving, and is now being deployed at Superchargers globally.
