The silent hero who saved Jewish children with mime. Marcel Marceau — the world’s greatest mime — was once Marcel Mangel, a Jewish teenager in Nazi-occupied France. Marcel Marceau died in 2007 at 84. He is remembered as the master of mime — poetry without words. But he was also a teenage hero who risked everything to save Jewish children from the Holocaust using nothing but silence and expression. True courage often speaks without a sound.
