Sunday, June 7 is locked in. Xbox Games Showcase 2026 is almost here with a deep dive into Gears of War: E-Day Direct. In my first month, I heard clearly that our community values Xbox FanFest. As part of the return of Xbox, we made the decision to bring it back to LA to recognize the players who’ve been with us over the years. Looking forward to celebrating together!

When AI Came For the Actors ... I came across this fascinating article from Economic Observer, a major Chinese news outlet, about short-drama actors who, after catching what looked like a real wave over the past couple of years as the industry exploded, are already starting to get replaced by AI. Part of this is that AI really is getting pretty good, pretty fast. But part of it is also that the platforms are pushing it. In some cases they’re effectively guaranteeing payouts for AI dramas, which obviously matters a lot. ByteDance, not surprisingly, is one of the key players here and has every reason to accelerate that shift. Anyway, this piece tells the story through one actress who, just a few months ago, was having her best year ever and now is basically watching that opportunity evaporate. It’s one person’s story, obviously, but it’s hard not to read it as something that’s probably happening across the industry at much larger scale.
