Ever used the same app, but somehow it feels different every time you open it? You switch networks, your balance changes, the interface looks slightly different, and for a moment, it feels like you’re not even using the same app anymore. That’s because, today, apps don’t really exist as a single instance. They exist as separate versions across different chains. Take Uniswap, as an example: You have Uniswap on Ethereum, Uniswap on Arbitrum, and Uniswap on Polygon, all carrying the same name, but operating as distinct deployments. In practice, that means different balances, different contexts, and often those subtle “where did my funds go?” moments that break the experience. What looks like one app is actually many copies, each maintaining its own state and slowly drifting apart over time. On Push Chain, that changes. There isn’t a version of Uniswap per chain, there is just one Uniswap. No network switching, no fragmented balances, and no copies falling out of sync. Instead, the app shares a single, unified state across all environments. So no matter where an action originates, it resolves against the same underlying truth. One app with one shared memory across every chain. That’s what shared state is really about.

Most apps make users do the behind the scenes work. That’s where the core issue lies. Users are made to choose chains, manage gas, and bridge assets just to perform basic actions which is unresolved complexity they have to face. Multi-chain might feel like a destination, but it’s a symptom caused by fragmentation. The next phase is abstraction: ➡️ chain selection disappears ➡️ assets move without user intervention ➡️ applications behave consistently At that point, the underlying chain will stop being a user concern. We need to think about designing systems where users never have to think about it.
