Every time I critique Hinduism or Brahminism, at least one Hindu shows up with critiques of Islam. Given that I'm not a Muslim, I don't see what I'm supposed to do with that. But it does tell me they themselves think that Hinduism is at least as bad as Islam.

🚨 NEW: At least 31 Gaza police officers have been killed since a ceasefire was agreed last October, the Gaza Ministry of Interior and National Security said today, accusing Israel of deliberately targeting police personnel. A statement from the Ministry reads as follows: — The Ministry of Interior and National Security condemns the horrific massacres that the Israeli occupation continues to carry out against innocent civilians in the Gaza Strip, as well as its deliberate targeting of police officers and personnel while performing their humanitarian duty to serve the public. The latest incidents today included a bloody scene and shocking massacres: an attack on a police patrol in the Sheikh Radwan neighborhood of Gaza City, and the bombing of a police vehicle as it was returning from resolving a family dispute in Khan Younis in the southern Gaza Strip. The attacks resulted in the killing of six police officers and personnel, in addition to three other civilians—bringing the number of police killed since the ceasefire in October last year to 31. As we mourn the victims of our people who were killed today as a result of the occupation’s attacks, we announce a new group of fallen police personnel: 🔸 Lt. Col. Omar Saleh Muammar 🔸 Major Hossam Ahmed Sheikh Eid 🔸 Captain Omran Omar Al-La’da 🔸 Lieutenant Ahmed Ibrahim Al-Qassas 🔸 Assistant Mohammed Nader Al-Dahoudi 🔸 Assistant Abdul Rahman Abdul Rahim Barakat In light of this, the Ministry of Interior and National Security affirms the following: 🔸 First: The police are carrying out their civil and humanitarian duty toward the people of Gaza, and we hold the occupation fully responsible for targeting police facilities, resources, and personnel. 🔸 Second: The continued targeting of the police constitutes a blatant violation of international law, which criminalizes attacks on police forces as a civilian service body. 🔸 Third: We call on mediators and guarantors of the ceasefire agreement to act urgently and pressure the occupation to stop targeting the police in Gaza. 🔸 Fourth: We call on international organizations, foremost the International Committee of the Red Cross, to break their silence, condemn the occupation’s crimes in targeting the police, and pressure it to stop. 🔸 Fifth: We express our pride in the police force, which represents a pillar of stability for our society in Gaza and continues to make great sacrifices to fulfill its humanitarian and national duty under these difficult conditions. 🔸 Sixth: We record our appreciation for the various components of our people—its factions and clans—that stand in support of the police at this stage, and we call for greater solidarity and unity in confronting the occupation’s aggression and crimes. Mercy for the dead, and a swift recovery for the wounded. Ministry of Interior and National Security Friday, April 24, 2026

🎙️ Dr. Sahar Maranlou, an Iranian legal scholar and lecturer at Royal Holloway, University of London, pushed back on claims that the U.S.-Israeli war on Iran is being waged to “liberate Iranian women.” She called it a “colonial narrative” that erases Iranian women’s agency and their decades-long struggle for rights on their own terms. She also challenged the selective use of human rights language, asking why similar concern is not extended to Palestinian women or to mothers and children killed in Lebanon and Sudan. “War is the first killer of any gender equality,” she said. @JeremyScahill | @SaharMaranlou

Them: "Taxation isn't theft because we have the “consent of the governed” through the vote. Me: "That is an interesting definition of consent. Tell me. if a group of five people encounters a lone traveler, and four of them vote to take his bag, does the vote make the taking an act of “sharing” rather than “robbery”? Them: "No, that’s just a mob. We have laws and a social contract." Me: "Ah, so the number of people involved doesn't change the nature of the act? If the mob grows to a million, is the traveler’s bag still his property?” Them: "Well, yes. But we vote on things we all need! It’s for the common good." Me: "I see. Let us test the “common good” logic against the most private property of all: the body. If a crowd of men decides, by majority vote, that a woman’s body should be used for their pleasure or “the common good” of the tribe, does the vote grant her consent?" Them: "That’s a horrific comparison! No! That is a violent crime because her body belongs to her, not the crowd." Me: "So we agree: A person’s body is theirs by right, and no amount of voting can transfer that ownership to the majority?" Them: "Obviously." Me: "Then tell me - what is labor? Is it not the use of one's body and time over a day, a month, or a year?" Them: "I suppose it is." Me: "If I own my body, I must own my labor. And if I own my labor, I must own the fruit of that labor - the wages I earned. If the crowd cannot vote to take my body, by what logic can they vote to take the product of my body’s work?" Them: "But how would we fund things? How would we protect the poor? Without income taxes, everything would collapse!" Me: "So, the theft of labor, ie one’s body, is necessary because you cannot imagine a better way to pay for things?" Them: "It’s not theft! It’s the price we pay for society!" Me: "If a man steals your car but uses the money to buy bread for the hungry, has the theft vanished? Or do we simply have a thief with a good excuse?" Them: "You’re being impossible. It’s just how the world works!" Me: No, it is you being impossible. Impossible in that you wish to fit two opposing ideas into the same. The “consent” you speak of is merely a mask. You do not believe in the vote; you believe in the utility of the haul. You are a man who claims he hates violence, yet asks his friends to vote on which neighbor to rob for dinner. Oh, and it doesn’t have to work this way. But it will as long as people think the way you think…

💢 REPORT | Israel Agreed to U.S. Request to Scale Back Gaza Strikes — Then Didn’t, per Haaretz U.S. officials, around the time of the ceasefire with Iran earlier this month, asked Israel to halt strikes beyond the Yellow Line in Gaza, to allow progress in negotiations with Hamas over a second phase agreement, Haaretz reports. According to a source familiar with the matter, Israel initially agreed, but did not follow through. 🔸The U.S. request also included demands to increase aid trucks entering Gaza to 600 per day — the threshold set in October — and to allow 150 Palestinians per day to enter from Egypt through the Rafah crossing. Only around 250 trucks have been entering Gaza daily. 🔸Despite Israel’s agreement, the killings have continued unabated this month, with scores killed—including multiple children each day. At least 13 people were killed today alone, among them several young children. 🔸Meanwhile, Nickolay Mladenov, the Board of Peace’s High Representative for Gaza, told Reuters this week there was “momentum” that could produce an agreement within “days, maximum a couple of weeks,” but said the opportunity could be lost if not quickly seized. 🔸Hamas’ response after the first meeting with Mladenov: “We affirm our commitment to the ceasefire and cessation of hostilities, while insisting that we will not move to the second phase without the Israeli commitments to the first phase being completed.”

💢 US accused of seizing Iranian vessel carrying dialysis supplies in Sea of Oman US forces seized the commercial vessel “Toska” in the Sea of Oman on April 19 while it was carrying dialysis supplies and medical equipment, according to the Iranian Red Crescent Society and Iran’s National Committee for Humanitarian Law. Both organizations jointly condemned the act as “a blatant violation of international law and a threat to the treatment of patients in need of vital medical services”. Iran’s Mission to the UN said the ship was carrying dialysis supplies and medical equipment when US forces seized it and took the crew hostage, placing vulnerable patients at grave risk. American-Israeli strikes that destroyed some of Iran’s pharmaceutical facilities have already cut off life-saving treatment for hundreds of thousands of patients with severe and chronic illnesses, including for cancer patients. The IFRC says the humanitarian situation in Iran is “absolutely desperate,” with demand for medical equipment, basic supplies, and trauma kits extremely high, as is the suffering on the ground.
جمعیت هلال‌احمر ایران@Iranian_RCS

The Iranian Red Crescent Society (IRCS) and the National Committee for Humanitarian Law (NCHL) of the Islamic Republic of Iran, in their Joint Statement No. 11, condemned the attack on an Iranian commercial vessel sailing in the Sea of Oman that was carrying essential supplies for dialysis patients, describing it as a blatant violation of international law and a threat to the treatment of patients in need of vital medical services.
