For the whole country… for all people: An Eid of peace worthy of you In Yemen, Eid does not arrive as a passing occasion, but as a long prayer for peace; a plea that echoes in hearts before homes, that all forms of injustice and violations may be lifted from this land, and that the voices of Yemenis may find their resonance in the world. In this geography burdened by war, Eid does not appear merely as rituals or observances, but as a rare human moment in which resistance to forgetting is revealed, and in which the insistence remains that everyone deserves a dignified and safe life, and that rights are not a deferred luxury, but a necessity that cannot be relinquished. In every destroyed home, and in every street bearing the traces of pain, Eid remains a poem of hope written in tears and read with longing. Despite all the losses the country has endured, Eid comes as a long prayer for peace and for holding on to life. Between the Eid takbirs and mothers’ prayers, hope remains that a day will come when Yemen regains its wellbeing, and its people celebrate Eids no longer accompanied by fear or loss, but by the dignity and justice they deserve. Mwatana for Human Rights extends its warm greetings to all Yemeni women and men on the occasion of Eid al-Adha, wishing that it may return to all in prosperity, peace, and security. Mwatana also calls on all parties to the conflict in the country to make the occasion of Eid al-Adha a motive to begin a new page toward achieving peace, resolving the roots of division, and working to ease the burdens that have weighed heavily on Yemenis as a result of the protracted war and the consequences of years of conflict. Foremost among these steps is the release of all those arbitrarily detained and forcibly disappeared into the unknown, as well as taking the initiative to clear minefields and open roads and crossings, so that the one homeland may be reunited with itself, and so that Eid may have meaning. On this occasion, Mwatana will not forget to say: Eid Mubarak… To every displaced person enduring exile in the scorching heat of June, exposed in the open wilderness of displacement. To every bereaved mother crushed by the burning pain of loss for a son who was killed or a father who remains detained; to every sister without a visitor; to every family without a breadwinner; to every sigh of abandonment and every chest heavy with suppressed grief. To all the girls and boys whose innocent dreams vanished with one last step onto a treacherous landmine. To every Yemeni family to whom Eid has arrived with empty hands and empty bowls. To every child’s smile as they walk proudly in a new shirt, with the splendor of sultans. To every employee whose hands were once full. To every father who did not sleep last night, staring helplessly at his children—with neither Eid clothes nor a sacrifice to offer. To all those who will spend this day, Eid day, in the loneliness of prison, guilty of nothing except that someone chose to arbitrarily detain or forcibly disappear them. لكل البلاد.. لكل الناس: عيدُ سلام يليق بكم في اليمن، لا يأتي العيد بوصفه مناسبة عابرة، بل كدعاء طويل من أجل السلام، وابتهال يتردد في القلوب قبل البيوت، بأن تُرفع عن هذه الأرض كل أشكال الظلم والانتهاكات، وأن يجد صوت اليمنيين صداه في العالم. في هذه الجغرافيا المُثقلة بالحرب، لا يبدو العيد مجرد شعائر أو طقوس، بل لحظة إنسانية نادرة تتجلى فيها مقاومة النسيان، والإصرار على أن الجميع يستحق حياة كريمة وآمنة، وأن الحقوق ليست ترفًا مؤجلاً، بل ضرورة لا يمكن التفريط بها. ففي كل بيتٍ مهدّم، وفي كل شارعٍ يحمل آثار الألم، يبقى العيد قصيدة أمل تُكتب بالدموع وتُقرأ بالرجاء. ورغم كل ما عبرته البلاد من خسارات، يأتي العيد كدعاء طويل لأجل السلام والتمسك بالحياة، وبين تكبيرات العيد ودعوات الأمهات، يظل الأمل قائمًا بأن يأتي يومٌ يستعيد فيه اليمن عافيته، ويحتفل أبناؤه بأعيادٍ لا يرافقها خوف ولا فقد، بل كرامة وعدالة تليقان بهم. يطيب لمواطنة لحقوق الإنسان، أن تهنئ جميع اليمنيات واليمنيين، بمناسبة حلول عيد الأضحى، أعاده الله والجميع في رخاء وسلام وأمن. كما يطيب لمواطنة، أن تدعو كل أطراف النزاع في البلاد، إلى جعل مناسبة عيد الأضحى دافعًا لبدء صحفة جديدة نحو تحقيق السلام وحلحلة عُقد الانقسام، والعمل على تخفيف الأوزار التي أثقلت كاهل اليمنيين، من جراء تطاول الحرب وتبعات الخصام على مدى سنوات، وفي مقدمتها، إطلاق سراح جميع المحتجزين تعسفيًًّّا والمختفين قسريًّا في غياهب المجهول، والمبادرة إلى نزع حقوق الألغام وفتح الطرق والمنافذ ليلتئم الوطن الواحد ببعضه، ويكون للعيد معنى. في هذه المناسبة، لن تنسى مواطنة، أن تقول: عيدٌ مبارك.. لكل نازحٍ في هجير حزيران يكابد منفاه في عراء الشتات. لكل ثكلى يسحقها لاعج الفقد لـ ابنٍ قضى أو أبٍ محتجز.. لكل أختٍ بلا زائرٍ.. لكل أسرةٍ بلا عائل.. لكل زفرة خذلان ولكل صدرٍ كظيم. لكل الفتيات والفتيان الذين تبخرت أمنياتهم البيضاء مع آخر خطوةٍ بريئة على لغمٍ غادر. لكل أسرةٍ يمنية وافاها العيد وهي خالية الكف صِفر الإناء. لكل بسمة طفلٍ يتهادى في قميصه الجديد بزهو السلاطين. لكل موظفٍ كان في ما مضى أخضر الكف.. لكل أبٍ لم ينم ليلة البارحة، شاخصًا -بِقلَّةِ حِيلة- إلى أنبائه؛ لا كسوةً ولا أضحية. لكل الذين سيقضون هذا النهار (نهار العيد) في وحشة السجن من دون ذنبٍ سوى أن أحدهم أراد احتجازهم تعسفًا أو إخفاءهم قسرًا. لكل زوجةٍ على مرمى الحنين، لا تجد سوى الدموع سلوانًا عن غائبٍ لم يأتِ بعد. لكل البلاد.. لكل الناس: عيدٌ مبارك يليق بكم.

Mwatana for Human Rights welcomed the announcement made today, Thursday, May 14, 2026, by the Office of the Special Envoy of the Secretary-General for Yemen (OSESGY). Under UN auspices, the parties to the conflict in Yemen reached an agreement to release over 1,600 conflict-related detainees. Mwatana views this agreement as a crucially important humanitarian step that will alleviate the suffering of hundreds of Yemeni families exhausted by years of waiting, loss, and anxiety over the fate of their loved ones. Violations and restrictions on press freedom in Yemen have continued to be widely practiced since the outbreak of the armed conflict in September 2014. This occurs within a context marked by multiple actors and fragmented territorial control, alongside the absence of adequate legal and institutional safeguards to protect journalists and weak accountability mechanisms. This situation has contributed to undermining press freedom and increasing journalists’ exposure to repeated violations. From the onset of the armed conflict in late September 2014 through March 2026, Mwatana for Human Rights has documented at least 144 incidents of violations against journalists—both men and women—and media institutions. These violations include a wide range of abuses, such as arbitrary detention, enforced disappearance, torture, extrajudicial killing, threats, assaults, intimidation, and looting of journalistic equipment. They also include injuries resulting from airstrikes, ground attacks, and the use of live ammunition. In addition, violations have involved the closure of media outlets, the imposition of restrictions on publication and circulation, and the prosecution and trial of journalists in proceedings that fall short of fair trial standards. This reflects the broad scope of targeting, encompassing both individuals and institutional structures alike. في الذكرى التاسعة لاختفاء د. مصطفى المتوكل قسرًا، ينقل لنا نجله محمد جانبًا من معاناة تسعة أعوام كاملة لوالده على يد السلطات التابعة للحكومة المعترف بها دوليا في مأرب.

#اليمن: مرّت سبعة أشهر منذ أن اعتقلت سلطات الأمر الواقع الحوثية المحامي الحقوقي عبد المجيد صبره بسبب ممارسته السلمية لحقه في حرية التعبير. وتجدد منظمة العفو دعوتها للحوثيين للإفراج الفوري وغير المشروط عنه. يُحتجز عبد المجيد صبره تعسفيًا منذ يوم 25 سبتمبر/أيلول 2025 من مكتبه في صنعاء على يد مجموعة من القوات المسلحة التابعة للحوثيين ورجال مسلحين بملابس مدنية. وقد قدموا مذكرة اعتقال، وقالوا إن سبب اعتقاله هو منشوراته على وسائل التواصل التي أحيا فيها ذكرى ثورة 26 سبتمبر/أيلول. في ديسمبر/كانون الأول 2025، وُضع صبره في الحبس الانفرادي لأكثر من أسبوعين. وقد بدأ إضرابًا متقطعًا عن الطعام احتجاجًا على معاملته. وبعد سبعة أشهر من اعتقاله، لا يزال محتجزًا تعسفيًا بدون توجيه تهم رسمية له. يجب على الحوثيين إطلاق سراحه فورًا، هو وجميع أولئك الذين لا يزالون رهن الاحتجاز التعسفي، من بينهم العشرات من موظفي الأمم المتحدة والمجتمع المدني الذين تعرضوا للاعتقال والاحتجاز التعسفي والاختفاء القسري خلال حملات القمع الواسعة في عامي 2024 و2025.

العيد: محطة تضامن ومناصرة يحلّ علينا العيد كل عام كمحطةٍ نستعيد فيها شيئًا من دفء المشاعر الإنسانية، ونجدد من خلاله الروابط التي تجمعنا، ونتذكر معًا أن الفرح — مهما استعصى الطريق إليه — يبقى حقًا بسيطًا يتمسّك به الناس كي يواصلوا المسير. وفي هذه المناسبة المباركة، تتقدم منظمة مواطنة لحقوق الإنسان بأصدق التهاني إلى اليمنيين واليمنيات على وجه الخصوص، وإلى المسلمين في كل أصقاع الأرض، بمناسبة عيد الفطر المبارك، داعين الله أن يمنّ علينا بأيامٍ أكثر سلامًا وطمأنينة. العيد ليس مناسبةً تتكرر في التقويم، ولا طقوسًا شكلية تمر مرور الكرام، بل هو لحظة روحية فارقة تدعونا إلى التضامن والمناصرة، وتحملنا على التفكير في أولئك الذين يمر عليهم العيد ثقيلاً بالغياب والفقد والوجع. لحظة نستحضر فيها المحتجزين تعسفيًّا والمختفين قسريًّا، بعيداً عن ذويهم، وعائلاتهم التي تترقب خبراً يبدد وحشة الانتظار، والأطفال الذين لا يجدون تفسيرًا لهذا الغياب الذي يُثقل أرواحهم الصغيرة. كما نتذكر آلاف النازحين الذين فرضت عليهم الحرب ترك منازلهم ومدنهم، وباتوا يحاولون صنع حياة ممكنة في مخيمات لم يختاروها يومًا. العيد لحظة نقف فيها أمام الضمير الحي الذي يأبى أن يستسيغ الظلم أو يتقبّل تحوّل الانتهاكات إلى سلوكٍ قمعيٍّ ممنهج. ورفض هذه الانتهاكات لا ينبغي أن يكون حكرًا على الناشطين الحقوقيين والمهتمين بالشأن الإنساني، كما لا ينبغي أن يكون التنديد والتضامن مسبوقين بأسئلة ملتوية عن الانتماء السياسي أو الجغرافي للضحايا. علينا جميعًا أن نرفض كل انتهاك، من أي طرف كان، وأن نقف مع كل من طالته مخالب هذه الممارسات والانتهاكات دون تمييز أو انتقاء. في هذا العيد، فرحتنا ناقصة، وبهجتنا مشوبة بالألم، ومطلبنا واحد: نأبى استمرار هذه الفظائع.  ومثل كل عيد نجدد تمسكنا بمبادئ حقوق الإنسان، والسعي نحو مستقبلٍ تُصان فيه الحقوق والحريات، وتُحترم فيه العدالة، ويغدو فيه التمتع بالكرامة حقًا متاحًا للجميع دون استثناء؛ حقٌّ لا يقبل مساومةً ولا انتقاصًا. وكل عام وأنتم بألف خير.
