On our trip to the West Bank and Israel last week, Sir Edward Leigh and I were among a group of British MPs who saw first hand the intimidatory tactics of extremist Israeli settlers. In the Commons today, we both spoke about the need to protect the Palestinian people from settler violence.

We also need to protect Palestinian civilians from the collective punishment meted out by the IDF - for the crimes of Hamas. Thanks to @HFalconerMP for calling out the forced displacement of 40,000 Palestinians in the West Bank in recent weeks. Israelis and Palestinians we met have a common interest in making their communities’ security a priority - and in building long term peace.
