Sport, environmental, anti-racism and mental health initiatives among 13 projects to receive share of €1.06m PEACEPLUS Change Maker funding pot We're delighted to announce investment of more than €1.06 million in cross‑community and cross‑border peacebuilding initiatives across Northern Ireland and the border counties of Ireland. The Change Maker Programme provides flexible grants of up to €100,000 to support people‑to‑people projects that build meaningful relationships, strengthen local connections and encourage cooperation across traditional community divides. The newly funded initiatives span a wide range of themes, including youth development, arts and cultural exchange, environmental stewardship, heritage, sport, wellbeing, shared learning and anti‑racism programming. We were pleased to join the launch of FORWARD, a €1.3 million regional reconciliation and peacebuilding initiative. Delivered by Leafair Community Association, Ulidia Community Empowerment, Evolve NI, Éalú, and TIDES, the project will strengthen cross‑community and cross‑border relationships and help build a new generation of community peace leaders. FORWARD will build capacity across diverse communities, support those most marginalised in society, and provide opportunities for people to develop the skills, confidence and networks needed to foster understanding across different cultural and heritage backgrounds. SEUPB CEO Gina McIntyre said: “The FORWARD Project reflects the purpose of the PEACEPLUS Programme, to support initiatives that build understanding, strengthen relationships and create opportunities for meaningful engagement across communities and across borders. Last week saw the launch of the €1.02 million Social Value Collaborative (SVC) PEACEPLUS project in Belfast. SVC will provide training, coaching and digital tools to help organisations measure and evidence their social impact. The project is an innovative partnership between Enterprise Evolution and Catalyst NI, with support from the Department for the Economy (NI) and Women in Business NI. SVC will: ➡️Train and support 60 social economy organisations. ➡️Provide access to a digital platform to streamline impact measurement and reporting. ➡️Enhance procurement readiness, helping organisations access public and private funding. ➡️Promote equality, shared learning, and collaboration through a dedicated SVC network. Three PEACEPLUS projects aiming to strengthen climate change resilience and coastal community engagement in Irish seas have been launched at a joint event in Belfast. The three projects are: 🌊ACCLIMATISE (A Changing Climate Impact Monitoring and Assessment Toolbox for Irish Seas, €7.1 million) led by AFBI 🌊MOSAIC (Multi-disciplinary Ocean Sensing for Adaptive International Conservation, €8 million) led by the Loughs Agency 🌊CMAP (Coastal Monitoring and Adaptation Plan project, €9.6 million) led by Ulster University. Each project will strive to improve awareness and knowledge of climate change impacts on key marine species and habitats around Ireland and the capacity to predict future changes to manage protected areas and species. We are running a series of events to promote an additional PEACEPLUS funding call in the area of Empowering Communities (Strands 2 and 3). We are calling for applications for funding from underrepresented groups across the PEACEPLUS programme and we are seeking to support organisations jointly engaged in institutional capacity, trust, leadership and community-based safety interventions. On Tuesday 24th March (10am to 12pm), we are hosting a designated special session at Brownlow House in Lurgan for organisations supporting Ex-Service Personnel.
