Mark Gatiss: "I don't understand the antipathy towards Keir Starmer" The actor – currently starring in a play lampooning fascism – argues that the PM is doing a good job, but from the press he gets "you'd think he was Vlad the Impaler".

I am so fed up with this media and opposition witch hunt against Starmer. As if nothing else matters except Mandelson. This Labour government inherited a complete mess after 14 years of Conservative rule. NHS on its knees, railways in chaos, energy crisis and more. Yet in less than two years they have achieved more than the Tories ever dreamed of. According to the Full Fact Government Tracker, 68 to 70 percent of the key promises in their manifesto have been delivered, are on track or in progress. Channel 4 FactCheck already confirmed in July 2025 that 22 out of 36 main pledges were done or underway. Better than the Conservatives managed in their first years. Just look at what they have done:
Employment Rights Act, the biggest workers rights reform in a generation.
Renters Rights Act, ending no fault evictions and protecting 11 million tenants.
NHS: over 5.2 million extra appointments and waiting lists down by more than 330,000.
Scrapping the two child benefit cap, lifting 550,000 children out of poverty.
Great British Energy up and running.
Railways being brought back into public hands as contracts expire.
Sure Start centres revived and planning rules reformed to speed up house building. This government is clearing up the mess left behind. The foundations are now in place. Who writes about it? Nobody!!! On Mandelson.
Back in September 2025, when the new Epstein emails came out, Starmer publicly admitted:
“Had I known then what I know now, I’d have never appointed him.”
He immediately removed him as ambassador. When the vetting scandal broke in April 2026, he repeated that admission in Parliament:
“I should not have appointed him. I take full responsibility.”
He apologised to the victims of Epstein and immediately introduced three major changes to the law: no more announcing appointments before vetting is complete, ministers must be told about every red flag, and a mandatory risk interview before any decision. Olly Robbins and Ian Collard have no written records at all. Everything was verbal. Yet we are supposed to believe them instead of the Prime Minister who has admitted the mistake twice, apologised to the victims and taken immediate action to fix the system? Starmer is not perfect. He could have been more careful. But very few Prime Ministers admit mistakes so directly and then actually fix the problem. Enough of this one sided attack. The government is getting on with the job, delivering promises and cleaning up the mess. Instead of supporting that, too many people just want to bring him down. #Starmer #Labour #Facts

This morning, it looks like Monday’s attempts to shore up Keir Starmer ahead of Commons privileges vote - with ring round, big beasts rolled out & PM at PLP - have worked. Most Labour MPs appear convinced by argument that with crucial May elections & conflict in Middle East, this is not time to succumb to Tory political stunt to try to destabilise Starmer by initiating standards inquiry. One told us: “I am firmly in the ‘stick with the PM’ camp. I can’t see how a new leader taking the reins just as the Iran inflation shock takes hold would be good for them, or the party.” Labour whips aren’t taking any chances though, and are whipping MPs to vote against motion, even though some on Left say he should refer himself if he has nothing to hide.

Now THIS is the Michael Movie the world needed! Congratulations to John Branca, John McClain, Anton Fuqua, and BIG CHEERS for Jaafar Jackson. I've followed the thin stream of leaks and whispers in the fan community for a year and a half - concerns, changes, what will they show, will they show the truth, the human, the man? I admit, I was tentatively in agreement with the more cinema-savvy who thought the " MJ greatest hits" approach would be a disappointment. That there was so much under the surface of the man, the lesser-known truths, that should be shown. What we got instead is some simplified family psychology, some sense of Michael maturing into the self-power-broker he became, major relationships (like the Brothers) reduced, - AND THE GREATEST HITS TO DANCE IN THE ISLES TO. In this age of personal streaming, ear buds and headphones, smart-phones buzzing and fizzing, sequestered minds bored with their own algorithms, malls shut down, theaters almost extinct, broadcast radio all but lost - who knew people around the world craved a return to the SHARED experience of media? I've cheered the team who made this movie. . . But nobody could have yanked 30 million people out of their smart-phone dungeons all over the world except Michael. That's what he always did. The Estate and creative crew for Part II would do well to take the recipe for "Michael" and turn it up to 10. And after that - put together a 4K compilation of the best performances from all concerts, no dialog, nothing but one clip after another - clean it all up nice, remix, remaster - and let theaters CRANK IT UP on Saturday nights every 2 weeks. People don't have speakers anymore. Movie theaters have BIG ones! @michaeljackson @michaelmovie

With the success of the biopic and the confirmed sequel, we should pressure the @michaeljackson estate to release the “BAD” Tour remastered in 4K in theaters, to get people back in cinemas and see the real Michael, and next year “BAD” turns 40, there's no better time for this

For those that couldn't grasp it properly. This is a statistical anomaly that effectively "broke" the modern data era of the Premier League. While the league has seen legendary defensive midfielders (DMs), none have combined these specific high-volume defensive metrics in a single 90-minute. His night "outdid" the likes of: Michael Essien – Chelsea Claude Makélélé – Chelsea N’Golo Kanté – Leicester City / Chelsea Javier Mascherano – Liverpool Roy Keane – Manchester United Patrick Vieira – Arsenal Gilberto Silva – Arsenal Wilfred Ndidi – Leicester City João Palhinha – Fulham Idrissa Gana Gueye – Everton / Aston Villa Nigel de Jong – Manchester City Cheick Tioté – Newcastle United Sandro – Tottenham Hotspur Lassana Diarra – Arsenal / Chelsea Rodri – Manchester City Fernandinho – Manchester City Fabinho – Liverpool Declan Rice – West Ham United / Arsenal Nemanja Matić – Chelsea / Manchester United Gareth Barry – Aston Villa / Manchester City / Everton Lucas Leiva – Liverpool Moussa Dembélé – Tottenham Hotspur Scott Parker – West Ham United / Tottenham Hotspur / Fulham Alex Song – Arsenal / West Ham United Owen Hargreaves – Manchester United Moisés Caicedo – Brighton / Chelsea

1 - Casemiro tonight made 11 tackles, won 16 duels and made 9 clearances - he is the only player in the last 20 seasons to record all of those numbers in a single Premier League match. Everywhere.
