Potholes are one of the issues I hear about most often across the Daventry Constituency. I hear it in my inbox, on the doorstep and in conversations across our towns, villages and rural communities. People are fed up with roads being patched up, only for the same potholes to come back again. It is frustrating, expensive and a real safety concern too. I have been raising this locally and putting pressure on the council for proper, longer-lasting repairs. That is why I welcome the @Conservatives plan to tackle the pothole problem and help get roads fixed faster. People across the Daventry Constituency deserve better. First they manipulated the waiting list figures. Now they are trying to stop patients getting on the waiting list in the first place. Patients need treatment, not better headlines for Labour. That is not progress. It is a disgrace.

📢Update on Daventry Leisure Centre I met with West Northamptonshire Council officers, Cllr James Petter (Reform UK), and representatives from Everyone Active to discuss the proposed changes at Daventry Leisure Centre. Given the strength of feeling I have received from residents, clubs and regular users, I was very robust with them. I was told that the decision formed part of the contract negotiations. I pressed the point that this meant there was never any real opportunity for users to be properly consulted or surveyed on these plans, and I made clear that this was wrong and unfair. It was acknowledged in the meeting that, with hindsight, the way this was communicated and handled with users could have been done better. I also pressed for the plans to be paused and renegotiated, but this was turned down. I understand that works are due to begin on Monday. While some groups have managed to agree new arrangements, others have had no choice but to look elsewhere. Thank you to everyone who has contacted me and shared their concerns. The views I took into that meeting came directly from local people who use and care about the centre.

🔈 Good news for Long Buckby station users. After raising the confusing parking situation at the station repeatedly, I’m really pleased that West Midlands Trains has now confirmed the Saba-operated spaces will soon be re-lined in green, with clearer signs and messaging to follow. A simple but important step forward that should help stop drivers being unfairly caught out when they are simply trying to pay for parking.

The Government did not have the backbone to stand up to the BMA, so it handed resident doctors a 28% pay rise. Yet strikes over pay are still happening. Patients are still paying the price. Only the @Conservatives will ban doctors’ strikes and put patients first.

More slogans. More press releases. More appearances. Patients are still waiting too long for appointments, treatment and care. The NHS will not improve through headline grabbing announcements. Delivery is what matters.

I have submitted an Urgent Question on the delay in reporting the meningitis outbreak in Kent. Meningitis is a notifiable disease for a reason. If there was a delay in alerting UKHSA, serious questions need to be answered about whether opportunities to protect patients were missed. bbc.co.uk/news/articles/…

Thank you to @DementiaUK for today’s drop-in on palliative and end of life care for people living with dementia. Having worked in palliative care, I know how much good planning, compassionate support and continuity of care matter to patients and families at the most difficult time. Too many people living with dementia are still being left without that support.

After the statement in the House this evening, the facts remain deeply disturbing. Antisemitism is abhorrent. Targeting emergency vehicles used to save lives is despicable in itself. That this appears to have been driven by antisemitic hatred makes it even more sickening. All those who commit hate crimes must be identified, prosecuted, and face the full force of the law.

This is disgraceful. Targeting emergency vehicles that exist to save lives is completely unacceptable. There must be no place for antisemitic hatred in our society, and those responsible must be brought to justice.

Patients already struggle to get a GP appointment, and Labour are pouring petrol on the fire. The Government must be honest about the impact immigration has on frontline services and make sure the NHS has the doctors and resources it needs to keep up with demand.
