I’m old enough to remember when @azcentral ran front page headlines last year about unknown “republicans” from the east coast and local young republican ties to those people. Isn’t it weird how they haven’t even reported on Eric Swalwell or Ruben Gallego’s relationship with him? Not a single story. Totally burying it. A sitting US Senator described himself as best friends with the guy and the Republic won’t report on it. But last year they reached as hard as they could to write stories about a random group chat. ICE asked Long Island law enforcement to detain a Venezuelan national charged with attempted murder after allegedly trying to slash his billiards partner’s throat at Gilgo Beach February 28. The Suffolk County DA alleged Ruben Guanipa Ramirez picked up the victim from his home, went to a pool hall, and eventually brought him to one of the most iconic murder sites in the state. At Gilgo Beach, Guanipa Ramirez allegedly came up behind the victim, covered his mouth with a cloth, stabbed him and tried to slit his throat. Ramirez was arrested later that same day in Nassau County. Investigators say his vehicle contained three kitchen knives, one which appeared covered in blood, rope, duct tape, blankets, plastic drop cloths, a large-wheeled bag, gloves and a boxcutter. The suspect entered the U.S. in June 2019 on a B-2 tourist visa which required him to depart the U.S. by December 2019. Now, he faces attempted murder and assault charges in connection with the alleged incident. Regardless of the result of the criminal case, he is not authorized to be in the United States.

FLASHBACK: In 2009, the Arizona Republic reported that now-Senator Ruben Gallego, then a top aide to a Phoenix City Councilman, verbally harassed a female intern and "berated and intimidated her in front of co-workers." Gallageo allegedly yelled and pounded his desk. The aid said she lost her job "in retaliation for complaining about Gallego." Gallego admitted he had an outburst but said it was just a "momentary lapse." The city councilman said he was "hurt" by the interns allegations and even paid for her first semester of college.

I thought Congress had some sort of fund to pay off the sexual predators that are our elected officials or something like that? Yet, the Democrats left Eric Swalwell and hung him out to dry. They aren't opposing this bill because it's unpopular — they're opposing it because it works. A bill that confirms only citizens vote removes the electoral infrastructure they spent years building. That's the whole game. Chuck Schumer called 76% of Black Americans, 82% of Latino Americans, and 85% of white Americans the "fringe MAGA base." Every Republican senator should be playing this clip on a loop between now and the midterms. And then they should nuke the filibuster and pass the bill.
