See this was my problem with Pakistan's role all along. Iran has made it abundantly clear that that they are not open to negotiating given the US wilfully engaged with them in bad faith during the first round in Islamabad, by positioning itself on excessively maximalist demands that the Trump Administration refused to reconsider. As well as the persistence with a confusing, goalpost shifting that seems to be their overall strategy so that Iran capitulates to their demands rather than reach a middle ground. Every time that position is about to be reached, their position shifts to something further away. Not to mention that they denounced Iran's refusal to open the Strait on American terms or to American/ Israeli and allied ships; by themselves now implementing a naval blockade in the last few days after claiming they had agreed to open the waterway on amicable terms to both sides. Yet that lasted only a matter of hours. It is clear to see the difficulty that Trump presents in dealing with him, even on the smallest matters; because it's never in good faith. He just threatened Iran again with obliteration whilst expecting them to come to Pakistan and negotiate with a hostile enemy still hellbent on committing war crimes against them. And what has Pakistan done expect reiterate the American position to the Iranians? Nothing to convince them it seems. Apart from restating what was given to them to convey to Tehran by Trump. And so as this post from Shehbaz Sharif suggests; as the mediating power between the two, which is supposed to be neutral; Pakistan is instead regurgitating the American demands, exercising it's friendly relationship, but with the expectation that Iran agrees. Pakistan clearly isn't pushing Trump to reconsider his stance or present more level terms; the pressure is only being exerted one way and that is on Tehran. That is why Trump keeps praising Sharif and Asim Munir for the supposedly amazing work they are doing. Because they're strengthening America's position; attempting Iran to concede.
Shehbaz Sharif@CMShehbaz

I had a warm and constructive conversation with President Dr. Masoud Pezeshkian this evening on the evolving regional situation. I appreciated Iran’s engagement, including its high-level delegation to Islamabad for the historic talks, and recent discussions with Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir in Tehran. I also shared insights from my recent engagements with leaders of Saudi Arabia, Qatar and Türkiye. I assured him that, with the support of friends and partners, Pakistan remains fully committed to its role as an honest and sincere facilitator of lasting peace and regional stability.

Obama’s greatest crime was moving the political center to the extreme right. He singlehandedly recast the war crimes of the Bush admin into “mistakes,” continued/exacerbated many such crimes & paved the way for Trump/Biden to openly do genocide with no democratic checks.
