The final session of the two days seminar was a session with Celebrated Author, Journalist and Screenwriter Shri S Hussain Zaidi, whose accomplished and well known works include Dongri to Dubai, Mafia Queens of Mumbai and Black Friday. All these books have been adapted into films . Shri Hussain Zaidi delved into the complex world of Crime and Law Enforcement and provided a different perspective to the whole conundrum. To the various queries of the participants, he gave rare insights into the working and practices of drug and mafia dons. This highly interactive session was followed by the Valediction Ceremony which brought down the curtain on the extremely invigorating and informative Seminar on 'Combating Financial Crimes under Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA): 360° perspective'.

Second session of Day 2 of the Seminar on 'Combating Financial Crimes under Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA): 360° perspective' dealt with ‘GST compliance and its link to PMLA regulations. Shri Shafat Ahmed Usmani, Pr. Additional Director General, DGGI was the esteemed faculty for the session. The faculty discussed in length on the role of GST in Prevention of Money Laundering. Here, numerous aspects such as Financial Transparency, Data Sharing between GST formations and other Agencies, etc. were discussed. Several case studies on GST violations and Money Laundering were also discussed during the session. He spoke about the Offshore Online betting / gambling entities, Mahadev app case of Chhattisgarh, Circular Trading case during his talk. The hugely informative session was much appreciated by the participants.

The first session of Day 2 of the Seminar on 'Combating Financial Crimes under Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA): 360° perspective' being conducted at NACIN Mumbai, was delivered by Ms. Ashima Batra, Additional Director, FIU-IND. During the session, Ms. Ashima Batra, elucidated upon the role of Financial Institutions in detecting suspicious transactions under PMLA for prevention of frauds and financial crimes. She emphasised upon the development of skills to effectively implement PMLA compliance measures in various sectors.

The third session of Seminar on 'Combating Financial Crimes under Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA): 360 deg perspective' at NACIN Mumbai, was delivered by Shri Sunil Mall, Pr. ADG, DRI, Mumbai. During the session, Shri Sunil Mall, enlightened the participants on PMLA Compliance in Import-Export Transactions. Along with case studies he also explained about Risk Assessment and Due Diligence in Import-Export under PMLA to enable officer to enhance compliance practices to mitigate risks and ensure adherence to PMLA regulations.

The second session of the MDSEI Seminar on 'Combating Financial Crimes under Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA): 360 deg perspective' at NACIN Mumbai was delivered by Shri BVS Saikrishna, Founder & CEO of M/s. Pinaca Technologies Pvt Ltd. During the session, Shri BVS Saikrishna, explained the impact of Emerging Technologies on PMLA Compliance viz., Blockchain, AI, and Machine Learning in AML/CFT Measures and enhanced the knowledge of the participants on emerging technologies and their role in combating money laundering and other financial crimes.

NACIN, Mumbai under the aegis of MDSEI is conducting a Seminar on 'Combating Financial Crimes under Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA): 360 deg perspective' at NACIN, Mumbai on 8th and 9th August, 2024. The first session is taken by Shri Satyabrata Kumar, Special Director (WR), Enforcement Directorate . He gave a brief on FATF compliance and explained key provisions of PMLA compliance and its implications on financial transactions along with case studies. The session was lively with enthusiastic participation by the esteemed gathering, who raised queries which were answered by the faculty to their satisfaction.

A 2-day seminar on Combating Financial Crimes under Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA) under the aegis of the Multi-Disciplinary School of Economic Intelligence (MDSEI) was inaugurated at NACIN, Mumbai on 8th August, 2024 by Shri Rajesh Pandey, Pr. Chief Commissioner, Mumbai Customs Zone II. Sh. Prabhat Kumar Pr. Additional Director General, NACIN spoke on the history of Money Laundering and gave a brief on the subsequent laws enacted. The Chief Guest, Shri Rajesh Pandey in his inaugural address emphasised upon the need for better networking between different Law Enforcement Agencies.

The ART for processing of export shipments through JNPT has come to 162.45 hrs, revealing a reduction of nearly 24 hrs in last one year. The ART for completing Customs processes (goods arrival to Let Export Order), has come down from around 33 hrs to 20 hrs in last one year.(5/5)

JNCH TRS 2023 revealed that Average Release Time (ART) for import consignments has come down to 83.74 hours, thereby showing a reduction of nearly 5 hours over the previous year. The ART of JNCH is around 2 hours less than All India ART for all seaports put together. (4/5)

This year’s JNCH TRS was carried out on the theme of ‘Saadhit Se Sadhya’, which means, from what has already been achieved (Saadhit) to drawing a roadmap for achieving the target given in National Trade Facilitation Action Plan (NTFAP) so that it becomes achievable (Sadhya).(3/5)

TRS is carried out by Indian Customs under the mandate of National Committee on Trade Facilitation (NCTF). It enables all stakeholders of import and export ecosystem to closely examine the existing practices and processes with the ultimate objective of trade facilitation. (2/5)

The 11th JNCH Time Release Study (TRS) 2023 was released by Ms. Rama Mathew, Member CBIC on Thursday, 19.10.2023. This study is a data driven effort to objectively analyse the time taken at various stages at the port for processing of import & export consignments. (1/5)

CBIC is conducting National Time Release Study 2023 from 1st-7th January 2023 at 15 major port locations covering 4 seaports, 6 ACCs, 3 ICD and 2 ICPs. NTRS is an effective tool for data driven decision making and identifying the bottlenecks in the overall cargo release process.
