@ConorRuth @broadsheet_ie I supported the Quinn/Zappone Bill that emerged during the #SeanRef campaign some years ago - there is a great deal of scope for reforming the Seanad, esp on how it is elected and which doesn't require constitutional change. Widening the franchise (to all island) is essential

@sean_haughey Deeply saddened to hear that Feargal has died. An truly good man. I was privileged to work alongside him in #SeanRef campaign. He was always positive & ready to do the heavy lifting. Last spoke with him few months ago, as he left a checkup at Blackrock clinic on his way to lunch

@KeithMillsD7 Abortion isn’t remotely about ‘trusting politicians’. It’s the same dogma/culture squabble it’s always been. The 8th referendum will share zilch with the dynamics of #seanref, because no-one could summon up any enthusiasm for that issue - on either side.

2/4 Here's the #seanref #pollofpolls the weekend before the vote. Only 1 in 12 undecideds went "Yes" and the referendum failed. If that happens in #8thref on Friday then "Yes" will win 54 to 46.

@ShannonBlue It almost always favours the status quo in referendums. Had #marref had a lower turn-out, there's no question that the margin would have been tighter and in #seanref the low turn-out defeated the proposal.

This poll figure is why I believe #8thref is closer to #seanref than people relise. Once again, people are in favour of change but they think they are being asked to go too far by introducing abortion on demand. This is the message that #savethe8th are getting on the doorsteps

3/3 #seanref in 2013 had Yes firmly ahead in the #pollofpolls and only needing to take a 1/4 of the undecideds. Instead vast majority of undecideds went No & proposal was defeated In summary #repealthe8th need to be over 50% & have at least a 10% lead to feel comfortable.
