The Republican movement today in the 6 counties are similar to the OIRA in the early 70s. A new guard need to usurp the boomer generation who are dining out on their old exploits

Is any of the unionist politicans on the ground right now ? Are they trying to prevent things from escalating? Or are they tweeting from the safety of their houses? True leadership begins on the ground

@MerryOlEngland I think there is a lot of truth in this post. As you rightly say.. who is capable of organising communities and going door to door. House to house.

The fate of the Western World rests on Northern Ireland. It is the ONLY country that is capable of escalating to the next level. Not even the USA can. And IF they do, it will inspire others. But if they do not, it means nobody else can either. The stakes are huge.

Man, the videos and pictures pouring out of Belfast right now are hard to look away from. Thick black smoke choking the streets as buses and vehicles go up in flames — you see one crashing into buildings on Newtownards Road, another torched in Portadown. Groups clashing with riot police around Springfield Road and beyond, the tension so thick you can feel it through the screen. And now it's spilling over with reports of gatherings in Liverpool too. It all traces back to that brutal knife attack on Kinnaird Avenue in north Belfast the other night. A local man in his 40s left fighting for his life in hospital with horrific slash wounds to his face, eyes, neck, and back. Police charged a 30-year-old Sudanese man with attempted murder — the kind of frenzied incident that bystanders had to step in to stop. PSNI and leaders like Keir Starmer are calling for calm, but watching these communities erupt makes you wonder how long the pressure has been building underneath. You scroll through the clips and it hits different every time: families caught in the chaos, emergency services stretched thin, the same questions about safety, integration, and repeated patterns of violence popping up again. Not sure anyone has easy answers, but seeing it unfold live like this leaves you sitting there thinking — is this just another night that gets forgotten, or the moment things finally force a real conversation? The human cost feels massive on every side. What's your take as you watch this develop?

I love Belfast, so proud of how we came through so much. This is pure racism & absolutely terrifying. How long before some poor innocent person gets killed simply because they aren't white.
