Since I’m the only Indigenous person in the academic spaces I navigate, I’m always asked about land acknowledgements. So here are my common responses bc I try to keep in mind that everyone uses their “only X friend” to justify their racism at times. 🧵

We can’t replace well educated nurses. Full stop. Not in acute community or LTC. The shortage exacerbated by Covid doesn’t mean replace with others because it is cheaper and more expedient. This is the time to strengthen our identity and reestablish our central role.
