Ik a lot of people might take this as "films made mario a person cuz games are inferior" of whatever but no, Miyamoto's right. In the interview he basically says the movie is the first time Mario went through an arc, which is correct.

I just rererererere-watched the first Mario Movie after waiting a couple of months to refresh myself. Now I remember why I love this movie so much!
