Three killed and 21 injured near Sidon in the final hours. One last exchange of destruction before the guns go silent. The 10-day ceasefire just took hold. Here's what it means: -Lebanon takes "meaningful steps" to prevent Hezbollah and all non-state armed groups from attacking Israel -Israel keeps the right to self-defense against "planned, imminent, or ongoing" threats but won't conduct offensive operations -Lebanon's security forces recognized as having exclusive sovereignty responsibility. No other country or group, which means Hezbollah loses its claim as a national defender -Both sides request the U.S. facilitate further direct negotiations -Initial 10 days extendable by mutual agreement if Lebanon demonstrates it can assert sovereignty This is significant. The agreement essentially asks Lebanon to disarm Hezbollah without saying those exact words. If Lebanon delivers, the extension follows.
