Soon the Pakistanis will get their radars and air defence systems destroyed by India last year replaced through European nations like UK, Italy and Germany because of their subservience to the US. Pakistan cannot go back to the US for direct replacement of systems because that would be too visible and politically embarrassing for Washington. So the replacement happens through European intermediaries who have fewer political constraints and less public visibility. The GoI's strategy that if we do defence deals with the US it will stop supporting and arming the Pakistani army and funding Pakistani terror infrastructure has failed big time. The problem with Indian political leadership is that they do not learn lessons from the past. Eventually when every new PM comes in they try to do their own things until they start failing. Like every Indian PM has tried to improve relations with Pakistan while knowing the past record. Even Modi in his first two years tried to do the same. But when he failed he changed the strategy. It is time to change the strategy toward the US also, because the US will not stop arming the Pakistani army or financing Pakistani terror infrastructure no matter how many deals India does with the US.
