@jesscolburn @IshaniG @primarycarechat I think about this every day. I see them start to enjoy it about halfway through residency when career plans are already made. The learning arc is longer and the magic of continuity takes time to manifest!

I will always remember as a new primary care attending, hearing my front desk staff pleading with patients that were being transferred from a retired male physician and had “never had a woman doctor”: “No don’t worry, she is young but she is very qualified, etc etc”

Spent this morning visiting a shelter for Ukrainian refugees in Tijuana. Spent the afternoon at a shelter @ImmDef visits regularly to provide legal services to mostly Haitian & Central American families. The differences between the two are stark and soul-shattering. 🧵
