@tokiimekiis highly recommend checking out the light novels though, a lot of sao's problems even outside of aincrad's pacing are actually the fault of the anime adaptation. I mean shit, kirito is essentially just an entirely different character in the anime lmao

@tokiimekiis I love sao, but yeahh since aincrad was basically written out of order + progressive was after* the anime, the pacing feels really bad once you put it in chronological order, *especially* without progressive (aside from aria, which was absolutely butchered anyway)

I can’t speak on the LNs but I just finished rewatching the Aincrad arc after like a decade and it’s actually jarring how breakneck the pacing is. It’s charming and entertaining for sure but the pacing of the anime is ridiculously terrible
