Uh, I think if you knew anything about Prime Minister Takaichi, you’d know she was more pissed off at the reporter who was asking a question trying to drum up animosity, when she recently pledged that she intends to deepen relations between the US and Japan. The traditional Japanese people (which Takaichi embodies and represents) are honorable in a way you clearly don’t understand. In their way of life, respect is huge, especially when visiting someone else’s home. She obviously saw it as an embarrassment to her and to the nation of Japan. I’d be willing to bet when he goes home, he won’t have a job for much longer. The good people of the US loves Japan as a friend and a trusted ally on the world stage. A stupid joke like that is not going to get in the way of relations between the two nations. You’d be naive to think otherwise.
