Rahm's going to make $500M+ by signing with LIV, which no one can fault him for. It's enough money to share for the next five generations of Rahm's family. but less than two years ago, he said all of this. I'm mainly curious about what's drastically changed since then.

I know many of you have a reflexive disdain for LIV—that's fine, I'm not for or against it. But LIV is getting harder to ignore. The 5 best players in golf are, in no particular order, Rahm, Brooks, Rory, Scottie and Cam. If Rahm jumps, LIV will have 3 of them.

As a Texan, I’m well aware of my bias, but bias withstanding, not enough can be said about the Texans who turned down the crazy millions to join LIV. Grateful to PGA Tour stars Scottie Scheffler and Jordan Spieth who helped ensure the history of the PGA Tour by turning down tens of millions, but especially to Will Zalatoris, who as an injured but rising potential superstar told the Saudis (MBS) to stuff their 130 million dollar offer because he wanted to be, not only on the right side of history, to create an inspiring legacy. In addition to Zallatoris, the Coody brothers, Pierceson and Parker, turned down multimillion dollar and potentially life changing offers because they believed legacy has more currency than hypocrisy. The Saudis (MBS) want to use golf to launder their reputation but perhaps as much or more, to use golf as a crutch to diversify their economy that is almost solely based upon petroleum but largely hindered by their subjugation and some would argue their enslavement of women, which truncates their intellectual and entrepreneurial development. They want to use golf as a vehicle for economic expansion, to obviate the necessity of modernizing their archaic and medieval views about women, which obviously hinders their economic expansion. If we allow golf to be bought out by the Saudis ( MBS), we will tacitly be supporting the subjugation of women. Golf is facing an existential threat that has far more implications than even the game of golf.

@beaks1973 @chambleebrandel Correct - but whilst they don’t do anything to support, what is the incentive to prioritise playing here over a swing season event? Nothing. I’m leaving this here - pointless discussing with someone who can fly to 15 different countries in an hour

@beaks1973 @chambleebrandel There is sponsorship, but attracting the best players in the world requires significant cash - an issue experienced by every tour. But co-sanction en event here and that’s where it starts. But clearly no appetite to do so

@beaks1973 @chambleebrandel The fact that LIV, as a tour, has events worldwide is growing the game. The players who went there knew that was part of the deal and still went. That equals growing the game. Not sure how much more it needs to be spelt out for you.

@beaks1973 @chambleebrandel Mate listen to yourself - that’s my whole point. Put on an event or co-sanction and players will come. But end result is the same for the growth of the game in this country. You clearly don’t get it - here’s to another off season event with 50 people watching.

@B85Timmy @chambleebrandel LIV players did go to Aus to grow the game - they went were they were contracted too , and LIV went to other countries because it wasn’t going up against the PGAT .

@B85Timmy @chambleebrandel Even with a co sanction there isn’t going to be many more players than would already go there - it’s too close holiday and football season etc. Many of the top players will take time off now .

@beaks1973 @chambleebrandel Don’t disagree on what drives sponsorship dollars. My point is, are you trying to tell me that with the wrap around circuit etc, they couldn’t find the ability to at least co sanction an event in Australia? They’ve done nothing, whilst LIV brings a whole event here

@B85Timmy @chambleebrandel No I’m not American . Golf doesn’t have a single governing body running it , the biggest market will dominate the sport - and that’s the US where all the sponsors are that pay the money

@beaks1973 @chambleebrandel Yea they did, again all 3 are now on LIV and have always played worldwide. Having a top tier National open field with international players does more for the game and local players than a weak field with little money, OWGR points. Are you American?

@beaks1973 @chambleebrandel Yeah 2 Americans - tringale (now LIV) and Smylie Kaufman. Speith last played in 2017. He came out because his coach is Australian, not because the PGA tour was trying to develop the game worldwide. LIV brings a whole tour event, US requires us to fork out a fortune for pres cup

@beaks1973 @chambleebrandel Paying enormous entry fees, with 2017 the last time a top talent came out to play. LIV has a whole event here each year. The buzz in Aus for the LIV event was enormous and brought an energy for the game that hasn’t been felt for years. People can’t wait for next years event
