Hello. Florida now. California before. Love dogs. Democrat of course.

At 82, Marie Wilcox taught herself computers and spent seven years creating a 6,000‑word Wukchumni dictionary, the first written record, to save her people’s language from extinction. But the dictionary was only part of her mission. For Marie, every word she typed was an act of remembrance, a way to honor the generations who spoke Wukchumni before her and the stories carried in its sounds. She grew up hearing the language from her mother and grandmother, but by the time she reached adulthood, English had replaced Wukchumni in daily life. Boarding schools, discrimination, and cultural pressure had pushed Indigenous languages to the brink. When Marie realized she was the last fluent speaker, she understood that if she didn’t act, an entire worldview, its humor, its prayers, its way of describing the land, would disappear with her. So she turned her home into a one‑woman language preservation center. She typed every entry by hand, recorded audio pronunciations, and taught weekly classes to keep Wukchumni alive for the next generation. Her work didn’t just save a language; it restored a cultural heartbeat that many had feared was lost forever. Marie Wilcox didn’t just create the dictionary, she also recorded every single word aloud so future learners could hear the language exactly as it sounded. Because Wukchumni had never been written before, pronunciation could have been lost forever without her voice. Her audio archive is now considered just as important as the dictionary itself, preserving the rhythm, tone, and emotion of a language that lived for centuries only through speech. #archaeohistories

Christian nationalist pastor Joel Webbon says that since people will never give up democracy and the right to vote, they must be taken away by force: "Virtuous, ambitious, masculine men have to climb the ladder of power and forcefully take away from the people that which is their detriment."
