I actually don’t hate ceddy in the 2 spot. Atleast he’s been hot at the plate. The bottom of the order is not pretty tho. This outfielder situation sadly seems like it can’t work. These are all young (ish) guys that need to play consistently

Last time someone besides Willson Contreras homered for the Red Sox? Marcelo Mayer on April 3rd. That was the home opener against the Padres.
Red Sox are currently 28th in homers with 10 total. Only the DBacks and Giants have less.

@MattMcCarthy985 Mayer needs to prove hes an everyday player. He’s been hitting worse then story which is saying something since they even protect him against lefties

Story is a sacred cow. I don’t like the message this sends to the rest of the team. Winning isn’t the most important thing given they’re playing a lesser option at shortstop.
The Run Prevention Red Sox are just the Hurt Feelings Prevention Red Sox when it comes to Trevor Story.

Alex Cora made it clear they aren’t moving Trevor Story off a shortstop: “He is who he is. Range-wise, a lot better than last year. Outcome [has been] inconsistent with that. But we like him as the shortstop… He’s our shortstop, and he’s been elite throughout his career. You’re going to go through [bad] stretches. It happened early in the season for him.”

Justin Slaten has been placed on the IL with an oblique strain and lefty Tyler Samaniego will take his spot, per @ChrisCotillo.
Samaniego was impressive once he overcame his back issue in camp. Brutal to see injuries continue to hold Slaten back.
