PayPal officially expands its PayPal USD (PYUSD) stablecoin to 70 global markets, spanning the Asia-Pacific, Europe, and Latin America regions (17/3). This move allows millions of users and merchants to buy, store, and send digital assets directly through their PayPal accounts. PayPal's SVP of Crypto, May Zabaneh, emphasized that this initiative aims to provide a faster and more affordable cross-border payment system than traditional methods. Through PYUSD, users can now instantly settle transactions and convert assets to local currencies for everyday purchases. For businesses, PYUSD increases liquidity efficiency, as sales proceeds can be accessed within minutes, eliminating the need for conventional banking cycles. Eligible users in certain regions also have the opportunity to earn rewards for holding assets within the app. As an asset issued by Paxos Trust Company, PYUSD is fully backed by US dollar deposits and US Treasuries. This expansion represents a strategic step by PayPal to strengthen a regulated and inclusive digital commerce ecosystem globally. With a presence in dozens of new countries, PYUSD is expected to become a key instrument in accelerating cash flow and lowering international transaction costs for both consumers and businesses.
