@laurenbalik @alexgeorge23 Not sure where your data comes from, but Matrix Partners are consistently top quartile and have had two of the highest performing funds of all time. As one example, we were seed investors in Canva at a $12m valuation, currently valued at $25B.

One thing that's very clear: A lot of tech people (developers, product mgrs., solutions engineers) are becoming more interested in learning basic corporate finance. I've been pretty bullish on this trend. People want to learn the "why" and the "how" but don't get these opportunities at work. A recentl example is GitLab $GTLB. I've been pretty activist about what is actually going on at this publicly traded company and how their finances work, and many software types have been sending me questions. This is a product that many software types are at least familiar with, so it's piqued interests. My question is: what is the way to educate the 2000-3000 or so software types who are not CPAs, CFAs, or even have experience with accounting or strategic finance or FP&A, but who want to learn the basics of corporate finance? How to read a balance sheet and income statement, capex vs. opex, what is EBITDA, what is NRR and how is it gamed, what are "adjusted" numbers, what is GAAP vs. non-GAAP, what does it mean when a company has debt, what are hurdle rates, how do cap tables work, things like that. Is this a newsletter? A *shudder* course? There is clearly demand. I think there's an entire group of hungry tech people who want to learn this stuff in an objective manner, not in the song-and-dance quarterly all hands at their companies, not from the All In podcast, just good, objective, practical lessons. Open to thoughts.

I’d like to correct the misquote in this article. I am deeply in favor of building products that sell themselves, wherever it makes sense, and in using product-led growth as a strategy to land before expanding with a sales-led motion. globalvillagespace.com/tech/unicorn-k…
