@theactualrob Can’t we just keep Medicare since people likes it and add this Personal Wealth Account just for healthcare?

Here’s a solution for retirement and wealth creation that works for everyone: The retirement proposal replaces the retirement portion of Social Security with a universal wealth-building system that begins at birth while preserving disability protections and allowing current beneficiaries to keep the benefits they have already earned. Under the plan, every American child would receive a Universal Family Wealth Account (UFWA) funded with a monthly government contribution that rises annually with inflation. These funds would be invested in either a broad index fund or a guaranteed bank account option that must provide a minimum return. The accounts would belong to the individual for life, could accept voluntary contributions from employers or family members, and would be fully inheritable by designated beneficiaries. Funds in the accounts would remain locked until retirement age, except for limited hardship situations such as preventing homelessness or escaping domestic violence. Because contributions begin at birth and grow over decades, the accounts are designed to allow Americans to retire with significant financial assets rather than relying solely on government checks. Current Social Security beneficiaries and workers who prefer the existing system could remain in it. However, individuals who choose to opt out of Social Security retirement benefits could redirect their payroll tax contributions into their personal wealth account instead. Disability programs such as SSDI and SSI remain intact, ensuring protection for Americans who cannot work. Over time, as older beneficiaries pass away and younger generations build wealth through their accounts, the traditional Social Security retirement system would gradually phase out. The goal is to eliminate elderly poverty permanently, create inheritable wealth for American families, and modernize retirement security while maintaining the social safety net.

Once you are roundly hated even by your former friends and declared unredeemable by both them and your enemies, you are finally free. (There's a song by Kris Kristofferson about it.) I mean once you're the Antichrist, what's your downside risk?

Just heard @NPR reporter flatly say Trump can't end the war if Hormuz isn't open. a) Who says? b) What's NPR trying to do, embarrass Trump by trapping the nation in Vietnam II? I think yes. Embarrassing Trump is Job #1.

@BretWeinstein Not a supporter but it seems that Israel knows it’s objectives quite well. Create a vacuous state of Iran that can be ripe for easy infiltration and manipulation lasting decades. It’s a race to the bottom where chaos and breaking of its people and culture is the goal

Can we all at least agree that IF Israel sought to block peace negotiations by intentionally targeting Kamal Kharazi (the Iranian negotiator), that it would be an egregious betrayal of our alliance? I'd like to understand how supporters of war with Iran see this. I'm stumped.

@walterkirn You could see Matt’s discontentment with how to produce “just the facts” in a scaled up way. a less ernest person-basically the rest of us-really don’t prioritize that. there’s a certain breed of sciopath that feeds on this. It usually comes with collateral damage.

Fans of the late great America This Week, here's the scoop: The much-publicized new boss person at Racket whose surprise hiring I wasn't comfortable instantly celebrating live on air -- the basis of the whole rift -- has already been let go. What a strange business.

I suspect Trump thought killing Khamenei would be a punctuation mark that would let him declare victory and disengage (like the June bombings of nuclear facilities). I also suspect it's going to have the opposite effect. It can't be overemphasized that Trump is dumb as a brick.

Chuck Schumer again has no words of opposition to a US regime-change war with Iran because Chuck Schumer, as he has repeatedly made clear, supports a US war with Iran. He just wants better process: like the way Dems begged Bush/Cheney to be allowed to vote YES on the Iraq War.
Chuck Schumer@SenSchumer

When I talked to Secretary Rubio, I implored him to be straight with Congress and the American people about the objectives of these strikes and what comes next. Iran must never be allowed to attain a nuclear weapon but the American people do not want another endless and costly war in the Middle East when there are so many problems at home. The administration has not provided Congress and the American people with critical details about the scope and immediacy of the threat. Confronting Iran’s malign regional activities, nuclear ambitions, and harsh oppression of the Iranian people demands American strength, resolve, regional coordination, and strategic clarity. Unfortunately, President Trump’s fitful cycles of lashing out and risking wider conflict are not a viable strategy. The administration must brief Congress, including an immediate all senators classified briefing and in public testimony, to answer these vital questions. The Senate should quickly return to session and reassert its constitutional duty by passing our resolution to enforce the War Powers Act. My prayers are with our brave American servicemembers.
