@BrettLawrence @MartinRPI Yes. And we need to stop saying a private school division would solve everything because there are many open enrollment public schools in Ohio that also benefit the same way they do.

@BryanMorgs @MartinRPI D1 still has that happening. And people need to stop acting like only option for solving D1 problem was going to 7. D1 could have gone to 64 teams, or 96, which many preferred, and then the remaining schools divided into 4 divisions. Would have solved most of what we’re seeing.

I’ll admit I’m late to the party here as an early supporter of 7 divisions. I let it play out for a couple years & I’ve done a full 180. Preaching to the choir for most of you, but there’s teams playing at Regionals this week that wouldn’t make it out of Sectionals in 4 divisions. Going to the 9 Regional games at BGSU was one of the best weeks of the year for me for the last 15 years—my excitement level for the 9 games there this week is nonexistent. Some of these games I’d put 30-pt spreads on. District Final Saturday used to be the best day of the tournament, now it’s littered with blowouts. OHSAA has completely ruined it.

@mgoul I agree. I think D1 should have been 64-100 teams. The next 4 divisions could be split evenly.

@BryanMorgs I think they could have fixed that by simply adding a fifth division. At seven, mimicking football, they might as well drop the “sectional” and “district” designations to go with regions.

Having a few discussions on celebrating district "championships" in this new seven-team format, and I feel like my dad: "Let's enjoy the road trip, but we are not stopping here!" Cutting nets after two wins is weird, but MLB is weirder with champagne celebrations before the LCS.

@mgoul But the District runner up trophy should no longer be a thing.

@mgoul I love that previous smaller D1 schools, now D2/D3, are finally getting a chance to compete. Some of them were playing teams for a District championship that had twice the enrollment.

I’ve been to 2 playoff games this week and I still don’t know why we ref games differently in the playoffs than we do all season long. As a football guy, I love the physical play, but why not call it that way all season long?
