What if the biggest crop quality risk is the one you can’t see? This week’s #WRR looks at pomegranate heart rot and why measurement matters. Researchers confirmed the cause, found major cultivar differences, and used the CI-202 to quantify hidden damage. buff.ly/iDZPIlQ

Plants survive deserts, floods, and frozen soils by adapting the part we rarely see: their roots. From deep drought-seeking roots to oxygen-breathing mangrove roots, plants constantly reshape their underground systems to survive. Read more: cid-inc.com/blog/what-are-…

What if nutrient deficiencies show up in fluorescence signals before they ever show up in the field By the time you see yellowing, photosynthesis has already shifted. Chlorophyll fluorescence lets us read those changes in real time Full article: cid-inc.com/blog/chlorophy…

Does the Root Imager damage roots? No, not if you install it correctly! The only disturbance happens at installation. After that, you’re simply lowering the scanner into the tube and capturing high-resolution images of living roots in situ — same roots, same location, tracked!

Five seconds. One leaf. Hundreds of wavelengths. That’s a SpectraVue scanning a tomato leaf and translating reflected light into plant health data. Before yellowing. Before wilting. Before yield loss. What would you measure?

Roots don’t just support plants; they quietly reshape soils, stabilize landscapes, recruit microbes, and even decide when systems fail or thrive. This article walks through what 2025 taught us about roots. Full article: cid-inc.com/blog/what-we-l…

Did you know? The CI-340 is often chosen when consistency across treatments is the priority, with the same chamber behavior and the same response curves from run to run. Good instruments stay out of the way.

What if higher yields aren’t about more fertilizer, but better roots? This week’s WRR: deeper root activity + moderate nitrogen delivered 38% higher yields. Real-time root imaging revealed what’s happening underground Healthy roots set the yield ceiling mdpi.com/2077-0472/16/2…

Plant stress shows up in the light before it shows up in the leaves. Blue-based fluorescence ratios catch it earlier than chlorophyll ever could. 👉 Full breakdown in the article. cid-inc.com/blog/how-light…

Plants don’t wait for visible damage to show stress; light gives it away first. Blue-to-red and blue-to-far-red fluorescence ratios respond earlier than traditional chlorophyll metrics, flagging stress before leaves change color. 👉 Read the article: cid-inc.com/blog/how-light…

Wednesday Research Review: A foliar biostimulant boosted plant growth without increasing nutrient uptake. The advantage came from improved photosynthetic efficiency and nutrient movement within the leaf. Full research here: mdpi.com/2311-7524/12/2…

What if drought tolerance has less to do with the plant—and more to do with what’s happening around its roots? New maize research shows drought reshapes root microbes alongside plant stress. Resilience looks more like a system than a single trait. mdpi.com/2076-2607/14/2…

Our top article from last year explains why leaf size doesn’t predict transpiration as most models assume. Environment—not area alone—drives the outcome. Full article here: cid-inc.com/blog/leaf-area…

#WRR: Water savings don’t have to mean lower returns. Field research found that combining targeted irrigation with smarter soil cover improved water efficiency—and knowing how the plant responded made all the difference. doi.org/10.1016/j.agwa…

2025 WUE research is pointing in an unexpected direction 👀 Across crops, climates, and methods, the signal is clear: water-use efficiency is becoming a systems problem, not a single-input fix. We pulled together five studies that explain why here: cid-inc.com/blog/5-importa…
