Sewaktu peluncuran Boost Bank pagi tadi, saya tekankan penerokaan bidang perbankan digital adalah ikhtiar yang amat dekat di hati saya. Dalam mengorak langkah dan wawasan untuk memesatkan Malaysia seperti dipeta dalam kerangka Ekonomi MADANI, saya zahirkan keperluan sepelusuk negara menyahut cabaran transformasi digital yang kian deras merubah lanskap ekonomi dunia. Saya menyaran rakyat agar tidak getar akan transformasi digital ini, malah perlu melihat manfaat pendigitalan dunia ini lebih hebat daripada kesan sampingannya, dan bank digital merupakan salah satu contoh kebaikan yang ada. Walhasil, bank digital bakal mengurangkan jurang kelas elit dan rakyat marhaen dan meningkatkan keterangkuman kewangan serta praktikal. Boost Bank serta bank-bank digital lain, harus menerima dengan hati terbuka tanggungjawab mereka untuk meningkatkan kecelikan digital di kalangan masyarakat majmuk dan rencam agar kita dapat mara ke hadapan. #MalaysiaMADANI

Until August (Gabriel Garcia Marquez) On the flight home from Hamburg, after a hectic, punishing but highly productive official visit to Germany, I read Gabriel Garcia Marquez’s posthumous novel - Until August. Saddled with the voluminous reports and briefs that are foisted on a PM to peruse - and digest - it’s an amazing feat that I could actually finish reading this latest and the very last of Gabo’s literary treasures! The fact that it’s only about 130 pages, substantive notes included, helped considerably although I’m not making excuses for slacking off in my reading regimen. ‘Until August’ is a fine read albeit failing to rise to the lofty heights of Gabo’s greatest but I’m not complaining: the classic traits of a great novel still remain, particularly the art of spinning the yarn. It’s the kind of story telling that renders us captive and unable to put the book down. Reminds me of Coleridge’s Rime of the Ancient Mariner. Leggo, ergo sum!

What’s bewildering is that Zafrul thinks that a 2 hour high-speed ICE train to travel a distance like KL-Johor Bahru takes much longer time than travelling to the airport and fly between Berlin and Hamburg And the two train stations are in the city centre! The airports are not!

All this while happened in around the same time as tourists find it difficult to use our public transportation system? In Putrajaya of all places? Malaysian politicians are so disconnected from the reality of public transport on the ground

Saya sempat beramah mesra dengan para jemaah dan menyampaikan sumbangan kepada komuniti Islam di sini sempena bulan Ramadan selain menyerahkan 11 naskah Al-Quran cetakan khas dan terjemahan. Dalam ucapan ringkas, saya tegaskan bahawa umat Islam harus menjadikan bulan Ramadan kesempatan untuk bermunajat dan meningkatkan amal serta berusaha menggapai nikmat madrasah Ramadan. Saya juga tegaskan bahawa umat Islam di seluruh dunia tidak boleh berdiam diri dengan penderitaan rakyat Palestin di Gaza yang kini terkepung dan harus berdoa agar penyelesaian segera dapat dicapai. Penghargaan saya buat Pengerusi Masjid, saudara Daniel Abidin dan Imam Samir Rajab atas layanan yang baik kepada saya dan delegasi Malaysia. #MalaysiaMADANI
