Catchers throw the most of any position on the field. If your kid has the best arm on the team, be careful around pitching and catching on same days/weekends. Having the best arm on the team can be a blessing and a curse. Protect it at all costs.

This is when you know your 11 year old is serious about catching. Writing, in his own chicken scratch, his pitchers, and the pitches they throw, to study. He wants to make sure he can anticipate everything, and know what they need to work on as well. No input from me, either.
