Privacy is key - the Privacy Act review should explicitly include AI technologies in their definitions and capture AI in protections for personal information

Our submission to the Govt’s Responsible AI consultation says that you can’t do it without transparency, privacy and accountability. A 🧵- 1) Tech companies need to clarify what datasets they use to train their AI and how these are sourced.

Finally, a moratorium should be developed on the most harmful applications - deep fakes, social scoring, weaponisation.

There should be a system of accountability for AI initiatives funded by tech companies - will these produce research that is critical of tech funders if it furthers AI knowledge?

Copyright holders and original authors - writers, journalists, artists, musicians, programmers should be appropriately compensated
