I’m breaking down the league’s dead-ball situations with one guiding principle: Simplicity over Complexity. The Goal: Analysing how "simple" wins matches. A clean clearance isn't "shelling it"—it’s elite game management. #JDCymruPremier #SetPieces #Tactics #Sgorio

@the_nomads Wales. Golf. Nomads. In that order!? 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁷󠁬󠁳󠁿⛳️ The JD Cymru Premier has a serious star on its hands. We're dropping a full Core4 Scouting Report on why Rhys is the most tactically dominant midfielder in the @CymruLeagues later this week. Stay tuned. 📊👀#FAW150 #JDCymruPremier

Look at the overlap with David Raya. Margetson (on loan from @SwansOfficial) is mirroring the 'Modern Keeper' profile: ✅ High Starting Position ✅ 60%+ Long Ball Accuracy ✅ Elite Shot-Stopping Volume He’s the anchor of the @the_nomads 17-game unbeaten run this season.

@morton1984 I agree, the basics never change! Which beg's the question... are the players "over coached"?

Not caught up on all the games yet, but one thing has really stood out so far… the basics of defending have been very poor. For me it always comes back to a simple question: did my team/players Press, Prevent, Protect? Top teams with an aggressive mentality aim to do all three, but at the very least, they consistently get two of the three right. It’s not complicated. Example 1 – Brighton’s second goal: Did Szoboszlai press the wide player? Or even prevent or protect the box? No. Call it old school, but what happened to stopping the cross? 👀 And don’t even get me started on the defending inside the box… Example 2 – Everton’s first goal: Where’s the urgency to sprint and press the ball from the Chelsea players? Or to prevent access into key areas? Or to protect critical areas? 🤯 My rant is simple: Do the basics well and you’ll generally be fine. Get the basics wrong and you’ll get punished, especially against quality. Defending principles: PRESS – Can we get immediate pressure on the ball? If yes, go quickly and together. PREVENT – Can we stop passes into key players or critical areas? PROTECT – Can we fill and protect critical areas away from the ball? Simple, but non-negotiable. ✍️

Our fix 🛠️ - Touch tight or better: If you cannot physically feel the opponent, you are out of position. - Goalkeeper should be making small steps whilst the ball is in the air to stay aligned with the ball's flight What would you coach? @SundayShare10

Does the TNS keeper go with the correct hand to save the ball? Top-hand vs. Bottom-hand saves

The Flyer's job: If they play short go and press the ball. If we win the ball sprint forward, be direct! Harry Franklin perfectly demonstrates this! Coaches do you ensure this job is filled!? #JDCymruPremier @CymruLeagues @FAWCoachEd @FAWales

The Importance of the Edge Player ⚽️✅ We call them they "Flyer". Good to see the @the_nomads covering this position. Noah Edwards' job now clear? And when he is dragged away from the edge Harry Franklin fills in @SundayShare10 @sgorio

The Fix 🛠️ Speak to the player to understand the "Why" behind his decision. The Solution 🟰Low complexity instructions. If we have an opportunity to put the ball in the box don't worry about the counter attack first!

In my subjective opinion based on the objective evidence the @PenybontFC_ player hesitates as his instructions aren't clear and perhaps the above plays a part!? Ironically it leads to another @Rhys01Hughes worldie!

@Tactx_ High level analysis is the foundation, but the grass is where the magic (or mess!) happens. Pausing a video and drawing arrows is easy, translating it into simple coaching points is where the best separate themselves.

The 'X' football analysis is at a quality level. Mainstream TV shows are capturing trends built on this platform, and some of the work is outstanding. In the two years we have been on here, the number of people working on analysis has increased, and so has the level of knowledge. We were asked a question yesterday, how can it improve? In our opinion, the main purpose of analysts/pundits is to identify what most people can't see. But once they see it, they can't unsee it. The game is not complicated, and any interpretation of the game can be broken down. Creating a language around it helps readers see the unseen! The next part is 'how to coach it'. Not always easy for an analyst who hasn't worked on the training ground, but recognising how a player can improve on your points of analysis can take you to another level.
