We’ve lost the art of just being like “hey man that was kinda uncool.” Everything has to be the biggest deal ever and people have to be groveling begging for forgiveness and apologizing profusely for every little thing. Sometimes a “yeah that was uncool my fault guys” is enough

@Corinttw i think some ships got hit by the morality police even then. my ship has a 4 yrs gap and we got called names back then too 😅 but, yeah, at least the het vs gay ship wars were more bc one character got "in the way of the ship" and not bc "x character is gay in my hc" 💀

Shipping culture is SO BORING right now. Everything is suddenly a problem. Non-canon stuff is evil. And God forbid you like a straight pair. I will sound like a grandma but back in the day we just cared for chemistry, vibes and where our imagination can take us and I miss that.

@st_hyaku That's called a list. Of different things that happen not always at the same time. And yeah another thing to add to that list is harassing people for liking queer content which I also do not condone. Is the message "let all people enjoy themselves in peace" really so hard to see?

To all the new followers, hello 👋 but please be aware this one random post that for some reason blew up is not my usual content. I mostly tweet about playing Genshin, other games/maybe books/random daily stuff or just rt pretty art.

@GriffeMoon69079 Hence the post got muted 😝 But yes, it's so much easier to discuss things irl - part of it being that the courage of anonymity disappears when faced with someone in person. Social media really screwed up the etiquette.

@GriffeMoon69079 Thank you ^^ Surprisingly, I am fine. I would probably take it more to heart a few years ago but now I'm in a good place mentally and so it's easier to just ignore stuff like that. I know myself and online spaces are just a tiny part of life so why should I let them ruin my day.

@Corinttw lets not act like shipping wars didn't exist back then. they did and people would get harrassed for liking a certain ship but at least people were honest about and didn't act like they were better than you or morally correct😭

@Liv1ngPerson Exactly! People are judgemental no matter what you do and we should really normalise not giving a damn about what other people enjoy and leaving them in peace. Fandom should be something that lets everyone relax after the bullshit of daily life, not force us to defend ourselves

@Corinttw that judgment also happens with queer pairs I'll see all the time the "lets normalize straight pairing shit" as if that isn't the majority of people 😭 no matter what you ship for some reason there's a huge group online who think you should die for it for some reason its so weird

@SaltyTunaKei Exactly this. Ship wars always existed (and I didn't like them back then too because hello, people simply have preferences) but it was mostly about "my ship is better than yours" and not "you're a bad person because you like different pixels than me" 😅

@Corinttw Me too, but I really have strong preferences with Queer ships. Bi4bi are the safest best for people who still want to ship m/f but they would have to commit to it without coming across as just performative Ship wars still exist back then. But felt more aimless than targeted

@Evallough That brings me back omg Elsa and Jack Frost! They were pretty together, everyone agreed they were compatible and it was enough to generate so much amazing content! And it never crossed anyone's mind it was weird, just cool and creative ^^
