11 years ago, a 16-year-old kid was bagging groceries at a supermarket when a customer took his photo without him knowing and posted it online.
Alex Lee started his shift on 2 November 2014 with 144 Twitter followers. By the time his mum picked him up from work that evening, he had 100,000. By the next morning, 300,000. His phone number was leaked and the notifications crashed it completely. Within days, #AlexFromTarget was the number one trending topic on the platform. Girls showed up at his store in groups. A man offered his co-workers a hundred dollars to find out where he was. His manager moved him to the stockroom to finish his shift.
His family’s personal and financial records were leaked online. His girlfriend, who he’d met in chemistry class two weeks earlier, started receiving threats from strangers. He appeared on Ellen DeGeneres’ talk show, was flown across the country for appearances, and eventually had to leave school because of it all.
The day he turned 18 he moved cities to try to build a career in social media. He hated it. One manager took control of his accounts. Another allegedly stole over $30,000 from him. He fired them both and quit the internet entirely.
He’s 27 now. Lives with his girlfriend, loads trucks at a delivery depot in the mornings, and has no public social media presence. In 2024 he said the job pays less but he’s a lot happier. “I never wanted to be ‘Alex from Target.’ Absolutely not.”

@CrossMagic @DoctorLemma This is exactly what I was thinking.

@SkySportsPL Sack him. Please. His antifootball tactics has drawn us into a relegation battle we should have been nowhere near

@KillerXKilled Dude should focus on his posture rather than his gangster status. Because what the fuck is that neck? 😂

@sophielouisecc I own a successful business. I've also being a tradesmen for 20 years.
I'm fairly certain I've been late every single day of my adult life.
It's never been a problem for anyone.

Guys, what’s stopping you having a moustache like this

@garyllaz @DoctorLemma I can't think of anything worse that being a child, having someone take a sneaky pic of me whilst I work. The Internet going wild over it, and Talk shows wanting me to feature.
Like... What? 😂🤦🏼♂️

@CrossMagic @DoctorLemma That's American culture for you 😂😂

Yeah I think we may be relegation favourites post tomorrow. We are certainly on a massively downwards trajectory.
Can’t score, don’t even look like scoring, quality is completely missing, home form has disappeared.
Look dejected.

Back-to-back clean sheets means Joe Rodon now has 99 points in #FPL so far this season.
That's the most points of any defender costing £4.0m or less 💪

I've just seen a trailer for the new Louis Theroux programme about the rise of radical Islam spreading across Europe.
He'll investigate national Parliaments and local authorities being infiltrated by muslim activists with an agenda to turn those countries into Islamic states.
He'll look at the indoctrination of school children from an early age, the prevalence of muslim gangs running our prisons and the problems associated with muslim "communities" self isolating and demanding to be "left alone" despite them continually provoking non-muslims with their mass prayer events in parks, public squares and in the road.
He'll delve into exactly why such a huge proportion of muslims claim welfare and housing benefits but refuse to contribute anything whatsoever in return.
He'll speak to Imams who feel free to preach "death to unbelievers" in the knowledge they'll never face any consequences.
And finally he'll speak to parliamentarians who make excuses for all the above while pandering to the needs, whims and egos of the perpetrators.
Actually, forget that.
IT WILL NEVER HAPPEN.
Theroux wouldn't dare make this programme. We all know that.

@SausageSpice @benonwine @jone45619 I did. It wasn't humorous or intelligent the first time. By the 3rd it was just embarrassing so I thought I'd correct you. You'd be better off just saying it as it is and saving yourself the humiliation
English

@CrossMagic @benonwine @jone45619 Oh….did you not notice the capitalisation of the word too? It’s called a play on words or a pun. Maybe Google it, a better understanding will help you converse with others on platforms like this.
Best of luck.

@green_powder2 @SkyBet @England You claimed DCL isn't currently the second best English Striker in the world, then brought up someone who has done worse than him this season. So yes, you did say that and my reading is fine.
I find conversing with mongs exhausting so I'm offskies.
Biyyeeeee 👋🏼

@CrossMagic @SkyBet @England Only i didn't say that and if your reading skills were better than the average Leeds fan,you would know that.🤣🤣🤣

@HowardIngs @footballontnt I feel better with the best players being given the chance. This season DCL has shown that and Watkins hasn't (quite).
Much rather the manager call up players deserving of it rather than the usual suspects.
Lock Troy in a padded room. That should do it 😂
English

@CrossMagic @footballontnt Yeah you’re right. I’d say you’d still feel better with a Watkins or someone who can play with the ball a bit better. You’ve the attackers in other positions, you’re actually stacked with attacking talent. I’m just praying Troy Parrott is wrapped in cotton until Thursday for us🥲
