The Rolls-Royce RB211 was a perfect athlete. A 70s technological marvel, this is the jet that almost broke Rolls-Royce, driving it to near bankruptcy. A broad menu of technological firsts were attempted in this program, including carbon-fibre fan blades (which Rolls-Royce subsequently backed away from). The RB211's design legacy was the fabulously successful Trent family of engines that has made RR the aerospace colossus it is today. Not bad for a half-century bet! But the biggest hidden design legacy of RB211's ambition is the addition of a 3rd spool inside the engine: A shaft inside a shaft inside a shaft, each powered by, and powering, a different part of the turbofan. The design & manufacturing difficulties of this architecture, still unique to Rolls-Royce, were legion, but it paid off: Not only does a third shaft allow you to run the big fan from its own dedicated low-speed, low-pressure turbine stages, but it also adds impressive modularity to the engine design. This allowed RR to scale-up and optimize the Trent family for new airliners with impressive agility, which in turn let them successfully slug it out with their far larger American competitor, General Electric. Modularity matters.

Senate give this morning the green light for the transfer of aircraft carrier ITS Garibaldi in favour of Indonesia. This is a turning point, because was indirectly linked to the DRASS deal with Indonesia, for the delivery of two SVD (DS8 for SF) and six high-tech DGK submarines.

Ground operation in Iran would be hell. Cheap FPV drones eliminate a lot of advantages that a developed military and well trained infantry such as American has. And it will be televised. I have been working with multiple units in Ukraine trying to minimize the impact of cheap fpv and bomber drones on the battlefield. We tried many things, from radars, shotguns, net guns, lasers, EW. Pretty much nothing works, there is no tech that can deterministically eliminate the threat. You can only minimize it, and we aren't talking about 80 percent mitigation, we are talking about 30 percent if you are lucky. Only physical barriers at the positions work effectively.

An Iranian-backed militia carried out a successful FPV drone strike on Camp Victory in Iraq yesterday, successfully hitting multiple targets. Seen here, one of the FPV attack munitions hits a parked UH-60 Black Hawk.

A sequence of images capturing a test detonation of the BLU-118B thermobaric bunker-busting bomb. The other image highlights its effectiveness against hardened targets such as caves and tunnel complexes, where its sustained blast pressure is designed to maximize damage in confined spaces. Interesting weapon system.

Where is Iran getting its high-res BDA? Check the Chinese commercial archive. 👇 Recent pulls show heavy 30-50cm optical tasking by China Siwei over regional US/Allied bases just this past week. The IMINT Pipeline: ➡️Unlike US private equity firms (Vantor), Siwei is a direct pillar of the PRC state (CASC/SASAC). ➡️They sell this data globally via SpaceWill, acting as the commercial storefront for China's state-owned satellite apparatus. ➡️SuperView Neo’s massive 42km swath width allows them to sweep an entire base or an underway SAG in a single pass. US firms are no longer the only game in town for 30cm spatial intelligence.

It is entirely possible the Iranians are using a commercial sattelite service to get these images but regardless, I want to know how they got these "before and after" images to do BDA with...

OldGru@Mertosari

@elingbayu @Y_D_Y_P Yg heran Iran punya kemampuan mengembangkan roket, metalurgi panas, tapi gak bisa di mesin jet.

Easy mode when they are used in a training environment. Employment of Switchblade 600 in Ukraine is far from 100% effectiveness due to EW, interceptors, and other challenges they face in an actual combat environment.

The KF-21 has finally been rolled out! I had the absolute pleasure of drawing it for a past DJMAX military theme, and I loved every moment of it

@Id77Kgt @Diihhhhhhhhhh @ItsBearkatz @Robe1807 @vmastratocaster Bro kita ga nyinyir masalah jangkauan rudal TNI.

Parameter produksi kyk temperatur, cooling rate, dsb ga pernah tau krn ga punya pabriknya. Terus maunya barang jadi pesawat tempur.

Wajar, anggarannya cekak.
