Brace yourself. This is deep, interconnected lore. WALL OF TEXT INBOUND That "hipster" is Lodi AKA Louis Yero. He's not a hipster, but a former federal agent from the USA's Space Age. He was part of a department studying and preparing for extraterrestrial encounters. Lodi himself is a master linguist and diplomat. He was pulled forward through time by centuries by one (or more) beings known as The Nine to serve as their emissary. The Nine are a group of nine, 4th-dimensional "gods" composed of dark matter tied to the gravity wells of celestial bodies of the Sol System ( IX = Sun, I = Mercury, II = Venus, III = Earth, IV = Mars, V = Jupiter, VI = Saturn, VII = Uranus, VIII = Neptune). Despite each a group, they each have distinct personality and some with ulterior motives. Really, most of them are cosmic jerkwads save for III. Their existence and cognition depends on the gravity of the celestial bodies they are bound to AND the motion of living things within the Solar System. This actually goes both ways, as the life of The Nine also greatly influences the overall laws of physics and chemistry within the Solar System. If the celestial bodies are destroyed, and/or life on them is...so are The Nine. Likewise, if one of The Nine dies, like III did at the end TEoF, the planet's laws of physics go completely awry. The Nine have notable "prophetic" abilities. These abilities stem from the fact they percieve and experience time all at once. Through multiple timelines that occur within the Solar System. Despite this, they aren't truly omniscient especially since they will interfere with one another. Though they have used their influence to nudge certain major events to happen. They haven't been passive in the past saga. Still with me? Well part of the Fate Saga was that some of The Nine, primarily the Outer Orbits of V and VI, hate the current state of existence. These cosmic beings do not like being these bound to planets and life on and around them. So they have attempting to use paracausal forces (space magic) to alter reality on such a scale that it would allow them to "escape" their predicament. The problem? Doing so will likely break reality...possibly all of the universe. So they have to be stopped. However, it's none The Nine that are possessing Lodi in this cutscene. Nor is it Lodi himself. No, it's either one of two entities. The first and less likely of the two is the Lord Of Every Nothing. Introduced in Episode: Heresy, the Lord Of Every Nothing is the new leader of The Taken. After the demise of the likes of Oryx, Malok, Quria, Riven, and The Witness...the Taken had no leader. Indeed, the Taken exist only to serve the will of a powerful master of the Darkness. So the Taken in mourning and longing for a master called out into the Darkness of the Ascendant Plane. Something that should not exist answered their call and took up the mantle. This was the Lord of Every Nothing. What it's end goal is unknown along with more details of what it is. However, there is some evidence that this being is actually a reborn "Zero." A being like The Nine that was tied to the Asteroid Belt. Because the asteroid belt didn't have enough gravity to bind Zero's form...it was effectively stillborn. However now it's been giving new life through the Taken. (The Nine themselves have also experimented heavily with The Taken.) It would explain how it was able to use Lodi as a mouthpiece to speak. As well as why Lodi is partially Taken when it speaks through him. The other more likely and terrifying suspect, however, is The Winnower. This goes to deepest, most cosmic lore of Destiny. The Winnower is, along with it's counterpart The Gardener, the eldest being in Destiny. It existed before the universe of Destiny, with it's counterpart, The Gardener, where they would play an eternal "flower game". The flowers being proto-universes that the Gardener would bring into existence, while The Winnower would cull any that failed to survive. It would also preserve the ones that accomplished a "final shape". Despite the many variations of the game, it always ended in that same final shape. The Winnower loved this, the Gardener loathed it. Eventually the Gardener opted to change the rules, introducing itself or it's avatar (and The Winnower or it's avatar by extension) into the "game". That game became the universe, with The Gardener becoming The Traveler and The Winnower (seemingly) The Veil. This is also introduced the paracausal spectrum of Light and Darkness into reality. The Winnower doesn't care for the change of rules, but is still here to "play" and "observe". In fact, it's come to appreciate this change. Largely because it believes it will show that no matter what path one takes, it will all lead back to that one final shape. The ultimate being in reality that proved it's right to exist for eternity by defeating everyone else. It believes The Guardian is going to be one of those contenders for the finals. Especially after they slew some of the most powerful beings to wield it's power. It a fan of ours, even if we serve it's counterpart. It thinks we'll eventually come around to it's side once we "realize" the inevitable. If this The Winnower in the cutscene, it's also a major deal. The Winnower has spoken to The Guardian (player character) before. Yet only through items and text entries. Now, it's spoken through another character. That's quite significant. Anyways, hope this answers your question on what's going on here.

Thank you for everything Destiny 2. I’ll TRY to keep it short even though I can honestly write paragraphs upon paragraphs about how I feel about it but this will ultimately be the last time I talk about it outside of streams. You came out at a very difficult time of my life back in 2017. I lost almost everything and everyone I cared about that year such as my father and that game made me the creator I am today. Elevated our community and channel to new heights. Some of the most fun I had before the pandemic and coming back to Battlefront II.

@HopeOfTheRealm Lackluster in content with an obvious favoritism towards the BR. Seasons are dog shit, should have always stuck with dedicated DLC packs that had themes which would make premium more worth it and skins justifiable Naval combat should have Rush that ends on the aircraft carriers.
