Exploring Autism

Hello, #ActuallyAutistic community! I am at the start of exploring a potential #autism diagnosis and would love to connect to people on here. I’m new to all this and quite nervous- please do give me any tips/who to follow/just say hello!

#AskingAutistics do any #ActuallyAustistic people have advice for being totally overwhelmed? It’s been the hardest day at work I’ve ever had, and I’ve also just had a long conversation about my 24 y/o brother’s short life expectancy. My brain hurts. Everything hurts.

@ExploringAutism @NeuroRebel I would also wrote down positive mantras or just any positive word and I use to hula hoop a lot more and just listen to the music and unwind.

@ExploringAutism @NeuroRebel (3) noise, and very soft clothing along with weighty blankets. For my partner (Also on the spectrum), he needs alone time with his special interests, headphones, and to be left to come to you when he’s ready and calm. I really hope you have a less overwhelming day today 💖

@AnAutisticWitch Aah ok, thank you 👍 I'm not great with strong smells so some of that might not be for me, but pyjamas, cuddly toys, soft lights are all good. Thanks for your help

#AskingAutistics @NeuroRebel @AutisticAcademy @AutismGazette @ExploringAutism Anyone else suffer from unconsciously tensing muscles? I don't know if it is a defensive thing or reacting to sensory stimuli but I will often get sometimes really bad pain and realise I'm tensing a lot

Dealing with the upcoming change in routine (camping for a few days) by getting as prepared as I can. I have a limited diet and not having access to a fridge for 4 days makes things tricky, but I think this will be ok...?!

@wordsandjim I’m glad! I’m annoyed I knocked the biscuits on the bottom left so they aren’t quite straight, but other than that it’s ok I think!

#AskingAutistics do any #ActuallyAutistic people have any advice for camping? I’m going to a (chill) festival at the end of this week. I’m looking forward to the days’ activities, but NOT to the loss of routine, lack of hygiene stuff, and being around so many strangers 🤔😕

@FaithHopeChoccy @sarah_sxlxp @greenbelt Fab, I’ll spend the weekend playing my own game of ‘spot the habits’! I do love a good hymn but am nervous about noise/numbers at beer and hymns, so I might hover near the edges!

@ExploringAutism @sarah_sxlxp @greenbelt We won't be too hard to spot. I'm in a grey habit and the Franciscans are in brown habits! We might also be the noisiest ones at beer and hymns.
