There are major ethical issues with putting someone else's face into AI without consent. Here are some of them:
- BTS members have previously expressed discomfort with AI, which makes editing images with them with it even more problematic
- AI edited images ARE creating something new. Sweat, moles, pores, skin texture, and so much more are being added to images
- AI photo editing programs often favour caucasian features and alters faces to this end
- It’s being used in many disturbing ways including in sexualized shipping edits
- Every time a person’s image is fed into AI, the program gets better and better at being able to recreate them
- As AI gets better at creating images of people, the use of it for sexual harassment and defamation gets more and more disturbing and dangerous
- AI is replacing jobs in many fields, but especially in the work of art, design, and photography. Our use and reliance on AI contributes to that momentum
⁃ AI takes an extraordinary amount of water and electricity and is horribly detrimental to the environment
