Needed more than ever, not less. Don’t cancel these sessions, and check in with people more. Isolation and uncertainty are times to increase our understanding, not park it until the sun shines again!

"As the Commander of Pacific Air Forces, a senior leader in our Air Force, and an African-American, many of you may be wondering what I’m thinking about the current events surrounding the tragic death of George Floyd. Here’s what I’m thinking about..." - Gen. CQ Brown, Jr.

@charlie_psych Millions being invested and awarded into research, workplace, studies etc etc and it’s access to limited or zero services with ridiculous hoops and waiting lists that we’re struggling with. That’s what I see anyway!?

There's the healthcare that should be happening, & the reality of what's actually happening. We seem to address this gap by working hard on the rational, the data & monitoring, the 'doing'. What if we worked as hard, if not more, on the relational, the human side, the 'being'?

@charlie_psych A similar approach is used in our transactional analysis group check ins, I could do with it being a more universal approach in everyday life 😊

In my Quaker Meeting I find simplicity & connection: Settle. Listen inwardly. Do I have an urge to speak? Is the idea: for the good of the Meeting? New? Free from lecture? Do I feel compelled to speak? If yes to all, speak. If no, re-settle. Rich stillness between the words

I’m probably going to be ranty today folks. Sorry. Well not really. For more than a decade I’ve been challenging attitudes to mental health at work & the pace of progress is horrible. Too much talk. Not enough action. We need REAL ACTION & that means addressing workplace causes.

On World Mental Health Day I say only this. Corporate employers & law firms of the UK. Quit window dressing & virtue signalling & really address the abhorrent workplace treatment of those with mental ill health. Your hypocrisy makes me want to vomit on a daily basis.

Mother’s Day can be a time of celebration and gratitude for some, but for others, it can be difficult and painful. If you know someone who may be struggling this Mothering Sunday, reach out, let them know you're there & that whatever they're going through, it's ok to say.
