TV theme tune composers. Number 1: Ron Grainer. The Australian created some memorable 'earworms' across a range of genres: Maigret, Doctor Who - with the key support of Delia Derbyshire - Steptoe and Son, The Prisoner, Man in a Suitcase, Tales of the Unexpected and Shelley.

@RodneyMarshall1 When I watch Tales it has an option to skip intro. I mean just why on earth would you? Savour the music and flap your arms. Do we have any further entries as the person for whom I have a massive soft spot is not yet mentioned?

In the days of 'shared TV' & before streaming platforms encouraged us to 'skip the intro', it's hard to overestimate the importance of both the 'art of the titles' & a classic theme tune, the latter sending people rushing in from the kitchen, bedroom etc to watch a favourite show

@daveainsworth63 @BBCFOUR4 I had the privilege of seeing a screening at The Union Chapel with live musical accompaniment by an excellent duo and preceeded by a screening of The Flypaper from Tales of the Unexpected which was filmed where I live. A perfect evening

Begrudgingly had to look after my young nephews and niece. Managed to occupy them by taking turns to pick songs on Spotify. My choice - Black Lace. We're Having A Gang Bang, with dance moves, which they absolutely loved. Cue angry phone call from sister 10 minutes after I left.
